About Jessie McPherson Private Hospital
Jessie McPherson Private Hospital has cared for Victorians for more than 90 years. As a standalone, not-for-profit private hospital owned by Monash Health, we provide specialist private hospital services for Melbourne's south-east and the wider Victorian community.
Located at Monash Medical Centre in Clayton, Jessie McPherson Private Hospital operates as a distinct private hospital within the Monash Health network, with the benefit of close connection to the capability, infrastructure and multidisciplinary expertise of a major tertiary health service.
We also operate Monash Heart Private at the Victorian Heart Hospital, providing private cardiac care within Australia's first dedicated cardiac hospital.
Our people work in a connected, close-knit hospital environment where collaboration, continuous learning and high-quality patient care go hand in hand. Whether you're joining us for the first time or continuing your career within the Monash Health network, you'll be part of a team committed to making a meaningful difference for patients, families and one another.
About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse Grade 2 to join our Special Care Nursery team at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. This role will suit someone who is committed to providing evidence-based, family-centred neonatal nursing care, demonstrates strong clinical judgement and collaboration, and contributes to safe, high-quality outcomes for newborn infants and their families through clinical leadership, advocacy and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you:
Provide high-quality, evidence-based, family-centred nursing care to neonates requiring special care, recognising and respecting the dignity, culture, values and individual needs of infants and their families.
Independently assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document care, monitor for clinical deterioration, initiate appropriate responses, and escalate concerns to ensure the safety and wellbeing of neonates.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, families and external service providers to support safe care transitions, informed decision-making, discharge planning and referral pathways.
Contribute to a culture of professional excellence through clinical leadership, mentoring, preceptorship, ongoing professional development, quality improvement activities, research participation and adherence to clinical practice guidelines.
Promote safe, high-quality care by maintaining professional standards, managing clinical risk, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, complying with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, and acting as an advocate for neonates, families and the nursing profession.
About You
You are a compassionate, skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse who is committed to providing safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care. You demonstrate strong clinical judgement, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and professional excellence.
You will bring:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Proven ability to provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates requiring special care, including assessment, care planning, clinical monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, and emergency response within scope of practice.
Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, resolve conflict, influence outcomes and establish positive partnerships with parents, families and multidisciplinary teams.
A demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, family-centred care, safety, professional accountability, and respect for diversity and inclusion.
The flexibility to work across a rotating roster and maintain all required employment screening, immunisation, mandatory education and professional development requirements.
In Return
In this role, you will have access to:
A supportive and collaborative leadership team committed to clinical excellence, professional support and employee wellbeing.
Ongoing professional development, education, mentoring, clinical supervision and career advancement opportunities within a progressive maternity service.
Salary packaging and employee benefits, subject to eligibility.
The opportunity to work in an innovative, family-centred neonatal service that values quality improvement, research, professional practice and multidisciplinary collaboration.
For a confidential discussion and to explore this opportunity further, please contact Emma Pope, Maternity Services Manager on 0448 144 637 or email [email protected].
At Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, our people are at the heart of the care we provide. We are proud to offer a close-knit private hospital environment, with the connection and development opportunities of the broader Monash Health network.

Across Jessie McPherson Private Hospital and Monash Health, we are Full Hearted, Open Minded and All In. These values guide how we care for patients, support each other and work together to improve the way we deliver services.
