This position works with the Executive Team to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures. This position reports to executive leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate and update (if necessary) all safety programs.
Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Advises on safety compliance concerns and preventive actions.
Attend all initial meetings with the Project Staff and Subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the Project Safety Program; conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractors safety representatives and/or foremen to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractors activity on site.
Review each subcontractors safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project Safety Program requirements.
Conduct new-hire safety orientation.
Establish and conduct job site orientation for every new employee for the project and administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
Works with superintendents to create a site specific safety program.
Works with Human Resources to implement training for employees in work site safety practices.
Works with Human Resources to schedule and conduct all safety-related training (including, but not limited to, OSHA 10-Hour, OSHA 30-Hour, scaffolding/fall protection, CPR/First Aid, Rigging/Signaling, GHS, Trenching/Excavation, etc.)
Coordinate job site inspection visits with N.C. safety consultant.
Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendation for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. During inspections, ensure JSAs, posters, manuals, SDS are current.
Walks site during OSHA inspections; reports findings to Human Resources and management.
Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
Conduct monthly safety meetings.
Establish and maintain all required job safety records.

QualificationsSkills/Knowledge

A four-year degree in Safety and Health or equivalent with at least two (2) years of safety experience or a combination of education/multiple years experience in safety/environmental principals and techniques;
Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending.
