Job Description

Looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer (PHP) to engineer, validate, and maintain high-quality software solutions that drive product business value. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to design scalable, high-performing systems and drive key architectural decisions for the frontend ecosystem while upholding the highest engineering standards. This role involves delivering clean, efficient code, breaking down large projects into actionable tasks with minimal oversight, and proactively troubleshooting complex technical challenges. Requires a strong commitment to continuous improvement to elevate technical excellence and team performance across the organization. 

Responsibilities

• Development and Architecture: Drive frontend architecture decisions for major Backend initiatives, implementing robust design patterns that ensure scalability and long-term platform health.
• Deconstruct Complexity: Turn large-scale product requirements into clear technical tasks and technical specs that define the roadmap. 
• Code Quality and Reviews: Write clean, compliant code and lead technical code reviews, providing the kind of constructive feedback that helps mid-level engineers level up. 
• Innovate Strategically: Research emerging frameworks and advocate objectively for technical upgrades, knowing exactly when to invest in refactoring for maximum business impact. 
• Troubleshooting: Independently drive complex bug investigations and incidents from root-cause analysis to production deployment, converting lessons learned into systemic improvements.
• Collaboration and Alignment: Act as a strategic peer to our Product and Design teams, validating requirements and bringing user interfaces to life through a reusable component ecosystem and design system guidelines. 
• Communication and Culture: Maintain mature communication regarding progress and roadblocks, establishing a positive, constructive, and solution-oriented environment across the team. 

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience programming with PHP frameworks (Laravel or Symfony). 
• Methodological Background: Proven experience working within structured Agile/Scrum development environments. 
• Language Proficiency: Advanced English skills are considered a plus.

Essential Technologies and/or Skills

• Core Stack and Architecture: Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Programming (O.O.P.) with PHP Frameworks (Symfony / Laravel). 
• Testing and Quality: Practical experience securing application stability using testing frameworks, such as PHPUnit.
• Code Performance: Advanced Backend and SQL skills to develop performant components that deliver a good user experience through speed. 
• AI-Assisted Development and MCPs: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to streamline context analysis and engineering speed. 
• Ecosystem and Lifecycle: Git for version control, Jira for task management, and Software Development lifecycle best practices. 
• Backend Awareness (Plus): Basic understanding or familiarity with frontend frameworks like React to facilitate smooth full-stack collaboration and API integrations.
