Overview
Mavin HVAC Service Technicians serve our commercial and light industrial clients as part of the Facility Services team under the leadership of the Maintenance Field Manager. They primarily inspect, maintain, diagnose, service, repair and replace existing HVAC equipment and related controls. They perform scheduled preventative maintenance, respond to service requests and complete authorized repairs or replacements with clear documentation and communication. During slower HVAC periods, these technicians also assist with general facility maintenance such as electrical and lighting repairs, furniture assembly, door hardware, minor plumbing and other building repairs. They operate with the utmost level of safety and professionalism and serve as trusted representatives of Mavin.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC service, preventative maintenance and repair experience
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
Ability to diagnose mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, airflow and control-related issues
Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment schematics and manufacturer literature
Experience servicing and replacing common commercial HVAC equipment and components
Must be a licensed driver with an acceptable driving record
Basic mobile technology and service management software skills; general facility maintenance experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry 50 lbs
Able to climb ladders and safely access and work on rooftops
Able to bend, kneel and crouch, work in mechanical spaces and outdoors, and wear required PPE
Responsibilities:
General
Attend and participate fully in Internal Mavin Company meetings, safety meetings and training
Quarterly Meetings
Maintain all issued company assets:
HVAC tools, test instruments, recovery equipment and stocked materials
Company vehicle
iPad and Cellphone
Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment
Administrative
Update service requests in FieldPoint daily with accurate notes, labor, materials, refrigerant quantities, photos, findings and completion status
Submit receipts and parts information and identify work requiring an estimate, specialty vendor, permit or follow-up visit
Communicate service status, delays and additional findings, and obtain authorization before expanding the approved scope
HVAC Service and Preventative Maintenance
Respond to clients' HVAC service requests and scheduled preventative maintenance visits in an efficient manner
Inspect, test, clean and maintain existing HVAC equipment, controls and associated components
Changing filters and belts and cleaning coils and drain systems
Checking electrical components, controls, safeties and operating conditions
Evaluating airflow, temperature split, refrigerant performance and overall system operation
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, airflow and control-related failures
Repair or replace failed components such as motors, capacitors, contactors, relays, belts, thermostats, control boards and condensate components
Recover, evacuate, charge and document refrigerant in accordance with EPA requirements and company procedures
Assist with or complete replacement of existing HVAC equipment and major components as assigned, including removal, setting, piping, wiring, start-up and operational verification
Recognize and document deficiencies, unsafe conditions, recurring failures and equipment approaching the end of its useful life
Protect occupied spaces, minimize disruption and perform work in compliance with manufacturer, company and site-specific safety standards
General Facility Maintenance
During slower HVAC periods, assist with general facility maintenance service requests and scheduled upkeep as assigned, including:
Basic electrical and lighting repairs
Furniture assembly, mounting and minor installation work
Repairing and replacing doors, closers, locks and other door hardware
Minor plumbing repairs involving faucets, toilets, drains and small leaks
Minor carpentry, ceiling tile, drywall patching, painting and general punch-list work
Recognize, address and/or report other maintenance issues encountered while on site
Do not perform work outside personal training, company licensing, safety requirements or client authorization
Develop, maintain and grow positive client, subcontractor, supplier and vendor relationships
Additional Responsibilities/Possible Assignments:
Participate in an after-hours or emergency on-call rotation as assigned
Attend industry-specific training, manufacturer classes and events as needed
Assist with equipment replacement estimates, project planning, onboarding and technician mentoring as requested
