Job Summary
Summary Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership, the Registered Pharmacy Technician performs a broad range of technical and operational duties that support safe, timely, and efficient medication distribution and pharmacy services in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities may include preparing, packaging, labeling, and distributing unit-dose and stock medications; assisting with outpatient prescription processing; staging and delivering medications and supplies to patient care areas; maintaining medication inventory through restocking, rotation, and monitoring of storage conditions; and supporting the accurate completion of required documentation and records. The technician utilizes area-specific technology and equipment—including automation, robotics, dispensing systems, and pharmacy information systems—to execute workflows, troubleshoot routine issues, and maintain medication integrity and security, including proper handling of controlled substances per policy. The technician demonstrates professionalism in all interactions and communicates clearly with patients and caregivers, as appropriate, to obtain needed information and/or triage routine inquiries to the pharmacist.

Essential Functions - Under the direction of a staff pharmacist and/or pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the pharmacy department. - Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices. - Responsible for supporting the operations of the pharmacy and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications and healthcare products. - Utilizes area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems. - Demonstrates professionalism and effectively communicates with patients and caregivers to gather information and/or triage inquiries. - Audits medication storage areas utilizing data collection tools, if applicable.
