Magnify of Central Florida is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Shift Lead Direct Support Professional to join our Residential Services team. This position provides hands-on support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned residential shift. The Shift Lead serves as a resource for fellow Direct Support Professionals by providing guidance, promoting effective communication, and helping ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centered services. 

Under the direction of the Villa Manager, the Shift Lead Direct Support Professional coordinates daily shift activities while continuing to perform frontline direct support responsibilities. This position assists with organizing staff assignments, monitoring resident care activities, supporting medication and safety procedures, completing documentation, and facilitating effective communication between shifts. The Shift Lead models best practices, promotes teamwork, and helps maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

• Coordinates daily shift assignments and communicates operational priorities to assigned staff.
• Provides direct support to residents with activities of daily living, community participation, personal care, and individualized goals.
• Assists with medication support procedures, controlled medication counts, and required documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
• Monitors completion of resident care tasks, health and safety checks, transportation needs, and household responsibilities throughout the shift.
• Provides guidance, coaching, and support to Direct Support Professionals while fostering teamwork and consistency in service delivery.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and objective documentation using approved electronic systems.
• Responds appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and changes in resident condition while following established reporting procedures.
• Helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming residential environment that promotes resident dignity and independence.
• Collaborates with Villa Managers, nursing staff, families, guardians, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of residential operations.

Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience needed to successfully perform this position.

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing direct support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or qualifying education permitted under applicable APD requirements. 
• Three (3) or more years of experience in residential, healthcare, or human services settings supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. 
• Previous experience serving as a shift lead, mentoring peers, coordinating staff assignments, or assisting with residential operations is strongly preferred. 
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, person-centered support while promoting resident dignity, independence, and community inclusion. 
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively coach and support coworkers during assigned shifts. 
• Ability to organize work, prioritize competing responsibilities, make sound decisions, and remain calm during emergencies or changing situations. 
• Ability to accurately complete documentation, maintain confidential information, and utilize electronic documentation systems and standard computer applications. 
• Knowledge of resident rights, health and safety practices, infection control, emergency procedures, mandatory reporting requirements, and medication assistance procedures appropriate to the position. 
• Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to safely operate agency vehicles. 
• Ability to successfully complete and maintain all required background screenings, fingerprinting, APD and AHCA requirements, Diocese Safe Environment Training, CPR/First Aid, medication assistance training, and all other required certifications and competencies as a condition of employment. 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and emergency coverage as needed. 
• Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position, including assisting residents with personal care, mobility, transfers, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
