MAB Community Services's Café 9, a unique and exciting vocational program featuring a fully functioning café where adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI) gain real-world work experience, develop culinary and employment skills, earn competitive wages, and build meaningful connections within their community.
We are seeking a Culinary Arts Teaching Assistant who is passionate about culinary arts, mentorship, and supporting individuals in reaching their personal and professional goals. This is a hands-on role where you will help operate a real café while teaching valuable skills that promote independence, confidence, and success.
Under the direction of the Culinary Arts Instructor/Program Director, you will support daily café operations, assist with food preparation and service, and provide coaching and encouragement to program participants as they develop their culinary and workplace skills.
Support the daily operations of Café 9, including food preparation, customer service, café organization, and kitchen responsibilities.
Assist participants in learning culinary skills, food safety practices, and workplace expectations.
Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where individuals feel supported, valued, and empowered.
Provide hands-on coaching and encouragement to help participants build confidence and independence.
Prepare breakfast and lunch offerings while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Develop positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and café customers.
Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with health regulations and program standards.
Serve as a role model and advocate for the mission of MAB Community Services.
