Overview

The jobholder will operate from Longulf’s Representative office in Mumbai and will be responsible for developing competitive supply sources from India & neighbouring Asian countries.

The main focus of the job holder is to maintain existing relationship with suppliers in India and develop new suppliers. The job holder will also look at the opportunities in similar products within Asia.

The job holder is also responsible for keeping the London office informed in an organised and regular manner about developments in the market place including activities of competitors and matters relating to the suppliers. A proactive attitude is essential & the job holder must liaise closely to ensure views & comply needs are best met and represented.

Products: Polymers, PET, PVC, Preforms, Chemicals (Plus other products we identify from time to time in business development)

Frequent travel is required to visit suppliers / customers / trade shows in India and overseas markets

Candidate requirements and demonstrable evidence from work history

• Minimum 10 years prior experience in sourcing of plastic resins from petrochemical plants in India and overseas
• Practical knowledge of Incoterms / shipping procedure and documentation
• Self-motivated and able to work on his/her own initiative
• Use of Microsoft office (work / excel / power point)
• Background in trading of Raw Material supply preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Results focused.

Key deliverables (KPI’S)

• Identify and conduct new market research opportunities
• Understand existing customers buying cycle and promote company offers
• Handle commercial negotiations as directed
• Travel frequently to meet customers and overseas business partners / regional offices when required
• Coordinate with London HQ to develop markets, increase Sales and monitor shipments
• Follow up on customer enquires as directed
• Attend local/ regional packaging raw material exhibitions
• Provide monthly progress reports detailing business development prospects, current enquiries and all other relevant data to assist to line manager and London office to conduct risk analysis assessments
• Maintain and update supplier database to be shared with line manager and London Head office.
• To achieve the mutually agreed annual sales targets
• To liaise with traders in various regional offices including shipping / documentation and accounts department in London Head office.
• Take an active role in dispute resolution and mitigation of any claims which may from time-to-time arise.
