The Assistant Operations Manager directs and supervises longshore personnel to ensure efficient, safe, and profitable cargo handling operations. They are responsible for labor management, grievance resolution, safety compliance, and terminal operating system oversight.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent management experience. Strong supervisory skills, the ability to work 24/7 shifts, and proficiency in terminal operations and Microsoft Office are required.
The Assistant Manager, Operations is an essential member of the management team responsible for directing and supervising ILWU Longshore personnel for any/all assigned operations, including but not limited to: vessel, yard, gate and rail operations. These duties are associated with cargo handling operations, ensuring an efficient, safe and profitable operation, as well as preserving positive relations with union labor.

The work is performed both inside and outside at LBCT, various marine terminal locations, in temporary offices and classrooms, and it is necessary to board ships, in all weather conditions. Position is based in Long Beach, CA; work assignments may require travel to other marine terminal sites or travel to other locations.

Additionally, LBCT will have the ability to handle in excess of 3.5 million TEUs, along with servicing the largest container vessels in the world, without growing our environmental footprint.
