Reports to: Director of Education

Location: 441 Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, NY

Part-Time: Evenings and weekends

Salary: $21.00/hour

Offering individualized services that foster learning, independence, and growth -- guided by the principle that learning is unique for each individual and occurs in all spheres of life. We serve and support anyone who seeks guidance in learning. This can include children, adults, families, parents, and caregivers from all backgrounds as well as learning styles. 

About the Role 

We are looking for a proactive employee to provide instruction for LAUNCH’s Pre Employment Transition services that guide and encourage learner development in specific course objectives under the ACCES-VR contract. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • Creating and developing curriculum
  • Addressing the individual needs of each learner by providing differentiated instruction 
  • Create a learning environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of adult learners

Education & Experience 

Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experience of vocational services and working with individuals with a disability, required. Enrollment in a master’s program or current MBA degree, preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required skills include: active listening and effective speaking, time management, critical thinking, basic technology/e-mail, reading comprehension, effective written and verbal expression. 

Conditions of Employment

Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs.

Our current programs and services: Educational Consulting: Assists parents/guardians to navigate the school system in order to create positive outcomes for their child with special needs. Summer Programs: Three options based on age of the child: Summer Adventures In Learning (ages 6-11), Level Up (ages 12 & 13), Learning Without Borders (ages 14-16). The six week programs are academically based with a strong social-emotional component to address summer regression. Employment: Individual support with job seekers to assist with job searches, exploration and career development. Also provides on-site job coaching. Community Rehabilitation: Service provides one-to-one training to persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities to develop or enhance the skills needed to live more independently in their homes or in the community. Adult Social Group: A recreational program that provides adults with a disability opportunities for social engagement. Career Solutions Academy: A work force prep program to earn a certificate as a cleaning technician.
