Job Description

We are looking for an Jr. Embedded Software Engineer (m/f/x) to develop, test, and maintain firmware for industrial IoT devices. You will work closely with hardware, electronics, mechanical, cloud, and product teams to bring robust embedded systems from prototype to production.

The role covers low-level firmware, sensor interfaces, power management, communication modules, production testing, and long-term device reliability in the field.

Your Impact 

• Developing and maintaining embedded firmware for microcontroller-based devices
• Implementing and testing drivers for sensors, memory devices, power-management ICs, and communication modules
• Working with interfaces such as I²C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADCs, and timers
• Supporting board bring-up, hardware tests, and firmware debugging
• Writing clean, structured, and well-documented C/C++ code
• Creating and maintaining test tools and scripts in Python
• Supporting power optimization for battery-powered devices
• Helping with data acquisition, device diagnostics, logging, and configuration
• Debugging issues using serial logs, debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
• Working with Git, issue tracking, code reviews, and documentation
• Supporting production test, verification, and field troubleshooting activities

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a comparable technical background
• First experience with embedded software development, either through work, university projects, internships, or personal projects
• Basic programming skills in C and/or C++
• Basic understanding of microcontrollers and common embedded interfaces such as I²C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC
• Willingness to learn hardware-related debugging and embedded development tools
• Ability to read basic schematics or willingness to learn
• Structured and careful working style
• Good problem-solving skills and curiosity for technical details
• Good English communication skills (German language skills are a plus)
