company is looking for a senior R&D professional to lead local laboratory
activities, drive formulation projects, and ensure strong technical,
regulatory, and customer-facing standards.
About the Job
The Lab Formulator will be responsible for
developing new color cosmetics formulas from scratch, including product
formulation, shade development, testing, documentation, and scale-up support.
This role will focus on face, lip, or eye makeup formulations, depending on the
candidate’s technical expertise.
The position requires strong hands-on
formulation experience in color cosmetics, with the ability to work on product
development from concept stage through testing, validation, documentation, and
industrial scale-up. The successful candidate will also contribute to
innovation monitoring by studying skincare, liquid foundation, and Korean
scientific trends, and by sharing insights with internal R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities
Product Formulation and Development
· Formulate new color cosmetics products
from scratch, with a focus on face application, lip makeup, or eye makeup
depending on the assigned profile.
· Carry out color development and shade
adjustment according to project requirements.
· Develop formulas that meet customer
expectations, technical standards, performance requirements, and regulatory
requirements.
· Support the creation of innovative
formulas aligned with Korean market trends and global beauty standards.
Testing and Technical Validation
· Conduct stability, compatibility, and
safety-related tests for developed formulas.
· Prepare clear and accurate test reports
and technical documentation.
· Ensure claims substantiation is properly
supported through appropriate data, testing, and documentation.
· Support the preparation and validation
of regulatory documents related to raw materials and packaging.
Scale-Up and Industrialization Support
· Support the scale-up of developed
products with Korea-based external partners, C2, or CG.
· Work closely with internal teams and
external manufacturing partners to ensure formulas can be transferred
effectively from lab scale to production scale.
· Identify and resolve formulation or
process-related issues during scale-up.
· Ensure product quality, consistency, and
compliance throughout the development and scale-up process.
Raw Materials, Packaging, and Supplier
Coordination
· Identify and evaluate relevant raw
materials, packaging, and ingredients for new product development.
· Organize supplier seminars and
participate in supplier discussions.
· Attend industry fairs and monitor new
ingredient, packaging, and formulation innovations.
· Coordinate purchasing needs for raw
materials, packaging, and ingredients through the Office Manager.
Innovation and Market Intelligence
· Study and share insights on skincare,
liquid foundation formulation, and new Korean scientific trends.
· Feed relevant insights into the EXPLORE
group and CG R&D teams.
· Monitor local and international beauty
innovation trends, especially in Korean cosmetics.
· Contribute to internal technical
knowledge sharing and innovation discussions.
Cross-Functional and International
Collaboration
· Collaborate with R&D, laboratory
management, suppliers, external partners, and global teams.
· Join DORA activities from time to time
when required.
· Travel to Germany occasionally for
technical meetings, training, project alignment, or collaboration with global
R&D teams.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the
following fields: Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry,
Related scientific discipline
Experience
· Around 5 years of relevant experience in
cosmetic formulation or product development.
· Strong hands-on experience in color
cosmetics formulation is required.
· Experience in one or more of the
following formulation areas is preferred: Base makeup / face makeup, Liquid
foundation, Skincare-related color cosmetics, Liquid lip and cheek products,
Lip stylo, Lip emulsion, Eyeliner, Mascara.
Technical Competencies
· Strong understanding of color cosmetics
formulation and product development.
· Hands-on experience creating formulas
from scratch.
· Ability to conduct color development and
shade matching.
· Knowledge of stability, compatibility,
and safety testing processes.
· Ability to prepare technical reports and
formulation documentation.
· Understanding of claims substantiation
and regulatory documentation for raw materials and packaging.
· Experience supporting product scale-up
or working with external manufacturing partners.
· Good awareness of Korean beauty trends,
ingredients, and formulation innovation.
· Knowledge of skincare or liquid
foundation formulation is a strong advantage.
