Job Overview
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for driving product portfolio growth through market analysis, customer insights, product positioning, and go-to-market initiatives. This role blends product management and customer marketing responsibilities to identify market opportunities, strengthen customer value propositions, and support profitable growth across product categories and customer segments. The role partners closely with Vendor Management, Sales, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams to optimize product offerings, improve customer engagement, and execute product marketing strategies that align with market demand and business objectives.
Core Functions
- Product Portfolio Strategy
- Support development and execution of product portfolio strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify new product opportunities, product gaps, and portfolio optimization initiatives based on customer and market needs.
- Monitor product lifecycle performance, including product launches, growth, maturity, and retirement planning.
- Evaluate underperforming, redundant, and obsolete products and recommend improvement actions.
- Support development timing, launch readiness, and commercialization activities for new products and services.
- Product Marketing and Go-to-Market Execution
- Develop product positioning, messaging, and customer value propositions for targeted customer segments.
- Support go-to-market planning and execution for new products, product enhancements, and service offerings.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to create product launch materials, campaigns, and customer-facing communications.
- Assist with development of product-focused marketing content, sales enablement materials, and promotional strategies.
- Ensure consistent product branding and messaging across channels and customer touchpoints.
- Customer and Market Insights
- Conduct customer, competitor, and market research to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Analyze customer feedback, website activity, sales trends, and business performance to improve product and marketing strategies.
- Conduct customer interviews, market studies, and post-launch assessments to validate product performance and customer acceptance.
- Identify customer pain points, buying behaviors, and unmet market needs to support customer-centric product development.
- Translate customer and market insights into actionable recommendations for product and marketing initiatives.
- Product Development Support
- Support new product development initiatives from concept through launch.
- Conduct discovery research and assess emerging technologies, product trends, and service opportunities.
- Assist with defining product requirements, customer experience considerations, and product bundling opportunities.
- Support testing and validation activities for new and revised products and services.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between product strategy, operational capabilities, and customer expectations.
- Customer Engagement and Channel Support
- Support development of customer engagement strategies that strengthen product adoption and customer loyalty.
- Assist with channel strategy initiatives to ensure product offerings align with target customer segments and distribution capabilities.
- Partner with sales teams, channel partners, and alliances to support product awareness and revenue growth.
- Support digital marketing, customer communication, and campaign initiatives related to product categories and solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Purchasing, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and Product teams to align product initiatives with business strategy.
- Collaborate with sales partners and alliances to support product adoption and growth initiatives.
- Support product-related business cases, timing targets, and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with establishing sales forecasts, budgets, and product market share analysis.
- Team Development
- Supports the team by solving complex problems and making substantial decisions that impact them.
- Models all safety and compliance procedures and hold others accountable to them.
- Responsible for managing and approving employee leave and timecards, as well as reinforcing timekeeping and attendance requirements with employees.
- Guide teams to develop reliable processes and procedures that produce results and ensure execution from the team.
- Act as a company representative by managing change, communicating proactively and regularly setting goals and clarifying expectations.

Competencies and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Product Management, Supply Chain, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, customer marketing, market research, category management, or a related discipline.
- Experience in automotive or heavy-duty transportation aftermarket preferred.
- Strong understanding of product portfolio management, product lifecycle management, and go-to-market strategy development.
- Experience developing product positioning, customer value propositions, and product marketing initiatives that drive growth and customer engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, competitive activity, and business performance data to identify opportunities and guide decision-making.
- Experience supporting new product development, product launches, and commercialization activities.
- Strong understanding of customer and market segmentation, and product alignment.
- Ability to translate customer insights and market intelligence into actionable product and marketing strategies.
- Experience collaborating with Sales, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations, Vendor Management, and Marketing teams to execute cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Experience developing sales enablement materials, marketing content, product training resources, and customer-facing communications preferred.
- Proficiency with CRM, ERP, marketing automation, analytics, and business intelligence platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience coaching employees, driving accountability, and supporting team development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while balancing strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
- Commitment to customer-focused decision-making, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Physical Requirements
- Full-time in office position.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. infrequently.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
