Summary/Objective: Promote the company mission statement while being responsible for direct hands-on work of a crew(s) and/or Trade Partners to produce units of construction which are assigned on a project by a Superintendent or Project Manager. Ensure crew always operates within Harper’s safety and quality standards. Plan and assign work; track and account for labor hours and productivity; supervise activities of a construction crew(s) and/or Trade Partners.

Essential Functions:

• Learn what it means to be the main contact for the project at the jobsite.
• Learn how to oversee the project to assist in proper project decisions.
• Ability to communicate with Owner and Architect/Engineer relating to field issues.
• • Understand issues and assist in resolution.
• • Know the proper time to involve Owners and Arc/Engineers.
• Demonstrate leadership regarding Harper BIG 6:
• • Safety/SOAR.
• • Delivery.
• • Logistics, staging and phasing
• • Quality control.
• • Employee staffing levels.
• • Utility strike prevention plan.
• Understand and uphold the Project Safety Requirements.
• • Ensure Harper safety requirements are explained, implemented and demonstrated.
• • Project specific safety pre-planning.
• • Coordinate with Safety Manager to develop a project-site specific SOAR Orientation Document.
• • SOAR Implementation – if allowing other Harper staff to conduct orientations ensure proper message and execution of the document.
• • OSHA standards are understood and followed based on the actions of workers on the job.
• • Perform weekly Toolbox Talks with all active trades.
• • Conduct Safety Stand down Training as necessary.
• Participate in the timely and effective investigations of all incidents including injuries, property damage, behavioral issues and near misses.
• Conduct weekly site safety inspections in Procore.
• Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to create Schedules as well as determine sequencing of work.

• Learn to oversee the coordination of all Trade Partners.

• • Clarity of design versus installation (RFI’s).
• • Schedule for the trades (durations and commitments of durations).
• Crosstrain with field staff and Trade Partners to ensure staff development.
• Ability to manage timesheets for field staff.
• Ability to manage and complete all daily reports.
• Manage all jobsite equipment.
• Develop and implement working relationship with Safety Manager.
• Recognize and understand the importance of compliance of local building codes.
• Recognize and understand the importance of compliance of all ADA code requirements.
• Participate in and recognize the importance of all required inspections for the project.
• Ensure by documenting and executing a proper Harper punch list prior to inviting Owner and Design Team punch list.

• Scheduling:
• • Ability to understand material delivery dates and when they are required.
• Attend all OAC meetings.
• • Includes assisting in setting an agenda and maintaining the agenda.
• • Assist in critical issues for meeting.
• • Assist in running the meeting effectively where required.
• Learn to solve clashes and conflicts of building systems in a manner that does not compromise the engineered basis of design.
• • Also show the ability to understand when documentation is required related to drawing and specification updates and/or cost impacts.
• Demonstrate ability to develop and manage a QAQC program.
• Demonstrate some ability to supervise a project utilizing BIM technologies:
• • Coordinate a 3d design for conflicts.
• • Coordinate a 3d design layout in the field.
• • Utilize BIM Glue and Navisworks software when appropriate to assist in the BIM process on a project.

Work Environment: This role may require walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Lifting requirements vary from minimal loads to heavy; but help is always available with heavier loads.

Physical Demands: The Field Engineer is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Weather and climate conditions will vary throughout the progress of a project and the Field Engineer must be able to inspect all ongoing construction activities over the duration of the assigned project. Inspection for quality, consistency and completeness of work frequently requires climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.

Travel Required: Travel requirements are based on Project Assignment. When assigned to a project outside of your Primary Work Area or Geographical Work Area you will follow the guidelines in our “Travel Policy.” There may be a business need for overnight stays when working on a project some distance from your assigned office or your home.

Education and Experience:

• 4-year college degree in related field with jobsite experience as an intern during school with an established GC.
• OSHA 30 certified, preferred.
• Proven track record of a strong safety culture on the jobsite – is a leader in safety.
• Has some experience building from the ground up on more than 1 project.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Plans and Specs.
