Under the general direction of the Director of Aquatics and Facilities (DAF) and consistent with the Christian Mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greensburg, the Aquatics Department Coordinator (ADC) is responsible for all aspects of the aquatic programs/service except fiscal/budgetary responsibilities. As a member of the management team, the ADC is a constructive member of the YMCA whose major priority is to serve the members of the YMCA with the highest quality of programming and facilities available.
Essential Functions
Assist the DAF with the supervision of the daily operation of the Aquatic Department to include but not limited to staffing, scheduling of pool rentals, swim lessons, and overall safety around and in the pool areas.
Assist the DAF with Pennsylvania Healthcare standards along with the cleaning of the entire pool area which includes the pools, spa, deck, bleachers, and two (2) family changing rooms.
Work with and assist the Facilities Department Coordinator.
“On Call” responsibilities twice per month as assigned by the DAF.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner within 24-48 hours.
Work closely with the DAF to plan and implement programs and service to members in the Aquatics Department.
Work as an effective member of the management team and working effectively with other program directors to achieve the highest level of quality in programs and services to our members.
Assist the DAF with quarterly CPR/First Aid trainings for all Y staff and external opportunities. This could also include trainings for public in lifeguarding.
Works with DAF on networking opportunities to advocate for the Y and lead our philanthropic efforts to build awareness throughout our service area.
Work directly with the Human Resource Team to recruit, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff and volunteers to help achieve our strategic goals and objectives.
Serve on the Safety Committee and other committees/task forces as assigned.
Assist with all special events, meets, invitations, etc. within aquatics but also support the rest of the Y’s operations and their special events as assigned.
Assist with all fundraising efforts.
Acquire and maintain certifications related to pool/aquatics operations and other certifications as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Four-year degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Aquatics/Fitness management, related field, or related experience is preferred.
Leadership, interpersonal skills, and supervisory experience.
Current certification as an approved Lifeguard
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Lifeguard Instructor Training, Oxygen, Certified Pool Operator, Pesticide Certified, and USA Swimming Credentials must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Must be attentive to details, well organized, able to meet deadlines, take initiative to solve problems, proactive in decision-making, and work with little supervision.
Background in aquatic programming, two years preferred.
Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.
Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility.
Strong oral and written communication skills with volunteers, members, and parents.
