The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef by managing food preparation, executing daily specials, and overseeing kitchen workflow. Responsibilities include cooking menu items according to dietary needs, maintaining sanitation standards, and supervising other cooks.
A high school diploma or GED is required, while a Culinary Arts Diploma is preferred. Candidates must hold a ServSafe certification and possess strong knowledge of food safety, cooking temperatures, and various food preparation techniques.

The Sous Chef second in command in our kitchen ad following our Executive Chef’s specifications and guidelines for delivering a best-in-class dining experience. The Sous Chef takes on the bulk of prep and execution of daily specials, which allows the Executive Chef the ability to monitor workflow, putting finishing touches on dishes and expedite. A Sous Chef should always be learning using every opportunity to learn all aspects of the Executive Chef role and can fill in on the Executive Chef’s days off. Working alongside the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will learn how to order, schedule, write menus, and all of the other functions of the Executive Chef role.
Working Conditions
The Sous Chef works in a fast-paced kitchen with exposure to heat, flames, cold temperatures, slippery floors and sharp cooking tools. The Sous Chef may work in close contact with others. The Sous Chef must comply with food safety regulations, which include appropriate clothing and protective gear such as hairnets, masks, disposable gloves and slip-resistant shoes.
