The Refrigeration Specialist is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and associated equipment. They must ensure compliance with Process Safety Management requirements and participate in safety training including HAZMAT and HAZWOPR.
Candidates must possess a GCAP Operator 1 Certificate or equivalent and have experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. The role requires the physical ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 pounds, and routinely wear a respirator.
The environment that individuals will be working in can fluctuate. Employees will be required to stand for anywhere between 6-8 hours, sometimes on a platform. They will frequently have to push, pull or lift to 30 pounds and occasionally push, pull, or lift to 50 pounds. Sharp objects such as knives, hooks, steel, and saws are utilized to perform the duties listed herein. The noise level is often loud, and hearing protection must be worn at all times. Additional PPE that may be required are safety glasses, mesh gloves/aprons, frocks, steel-toed boots, hard hats, face shields, surgical masks, and, in some cases, fall protection.
