The Role
We’re looking for an Engineering Lead - Finance Verticals to anchor and grow our India team focused on finance workflow development.
As the Finance Verticals Lead at Genios, you will turn ambiguous real-world finance workflows into production software by reusing and extending Genios’ composable platform components. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a pure people-management or coordination role. You will work closely with Product, customers, platform engineering, AI engineering, and other vertical engineers to understand messy workflows, break them into structured systems, and ship high-quality modules quickly.
You will be expected to lead by doing: writing code, designing workflow architecture, modeling financial data, making tradeoffs, mentoring engineers, and raising the technical bar for how we build vertical products.
This role requires ownership, strong engineering judgment, customer empathy, and the ability to move fast without turning every vertical need into a one-off hack.
Note: This is a hybrid position based in Bengaluru, India, with 3 days per week in office and strong async collaboration with US-based teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design and delivery of finance vertical workflows for use cases such as Investment Banking, CFO/FP&A, VC, and related financial operations.
- Turn ambiguous customer workflows into concrete technical implementations: data models, calculations, workflow steps, prompts, validation logic, and product requirements.
- Build quickly using Genios platform primitives, while identifying reusable capabilities that should move into the core platform.
- Make technical decisions on workflow architecture, deterministic logic, AI-assisted reasoning, and output quality.
- Mentor and unblock engineers, raise the technical bar, and help the team ship high-quality vertical modules quickly.
- Work closely with Product, customers, AI engineers, platform teams, and US-based engineering teams.
You Might Be a Fit If You
- Have 4+ years of software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems.
- Have led or mentored engineers, formally or informally.
- Are highly proficient in Python and comfortable with APIs, SQL, data modeling, JSON/YAML, and backend/product workflows.
- Can turn ambiguous business requirements into working software.
- Can learn finance workflows quickly and reason through concepts such as KPIs, forecasts, valuation, reporting, investment analysis, or planning.
- Have strong product judgment, systems thinking, and the ability to decide what to build now versus later.
- Lead through doing: writing code, reviewing code, designing systems, and making technical calls yourself.
- Operate autonomously in a fast-moving startup environment and use AI tools effectively to move faster.
Bonus Points
- Experience building vertical SaaS, workflow automation, finance tools, internal tools, or data-heavy business applications.
- Familiarity with Investment Banking, FP&A, CFO workflows, VC workflows, accounting, financial modeling, or business reporting.
- Experience with AI-assisted workflows, LLM-based tools, RAG, agents, or evaluation loops for AI-generated outputs.
- Prior startup experience or experience helping grow an engineering team.
What This Role Is NOT
- Not a pure people-management role — this is hands-on technical leadership.
- Not a business analyst role — you will turn workflows into production software.
- Not an implementation-only role — you will shape product and platform direction.
- Not a ticket-taking role — we need someone who can decide what to build and how.
- Not a finance-domain-only role — engineering judgment and fast learning matter more than prior finance expertise.
Perks
- Competitive compensation
- Unlimited PTO
- Hybrid working model (3 days in office)
- AI Assistants for work (Coding, General Purpose)
