The Chief Risk Officer provides independent oversight of the Bank's risk profile and leads the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The role partners with the Executive Committee and Board to ensure risk management supports sustainable growth and regulatory compliance.
Candidates must have extensive executive leadership experience in banking or financial services with strong expertise in risk governance. The role requires commercial acumen and the ability to influence high-level stakeholders and regulators.
Partner with the business to enable sustainable growth within approved risk appetite.
Lead the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework across all material risks.
Provide independent oversight of Credit, Operational, Market, Liquidity, Financial Crime and Conduct Risk.
Advise the Executive Committee and Board on strategic and emerging risks.
Build a high-performance risk culture that promotes accountability, resilience and sound decision-making.
Strengthen regulatory relationships and ensure compliance with FirstRand Group and local regulatory standards.
Develop and lead a high-performing risk function that delivers insight, challenge and business value.
Extensive executive leadership experience in banking or financial services.
Strong enterprise risk management and governance expertise.
Commercial acumen with the ability to balance growth, innovation and prudent risk-taking.
Credibility to influence executive, Board and regulatory stakeholders.
