Full job description

LOCATION:

Remote (Atlanta Preferred)

REPORTS TO:

Vice President of Engineering

KEY RELATIONSHIPS AND TEAM:

The Engineering Delivery Manager works collaboratively and directly with Engineering leadership, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Customer Success, Support, Operations, Implementation, company leadership, and external technology partners.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

F&I Sentinel is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to help establish a more predictable, transparent, and scalable software-delivery organization. This individual will be the operational partner to the Vice President of Engineering and will coordinate planning, delivery visibility, risk management, dependencies, and release readiness across Product and Engineering. The successful candidate will combine delivery leadership, practical software-development knowledge, data-driven judgment, and exceptional organization. This is a senior individual-contributor role with the opportunity to help shape the engineering operating model. The position is remote based with limited travel required.

Specifically, the Engineering Delivery Manager will have responsibility to:

  • Enable predictable, high-quality delivery by establishing scalable planning processes, delivery governance, and cross-functional coordination that empower Product and Engineering teams to execute with confidence, consistency, and transparency while increasing leadership effectiveness without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Establishes and leads a predictable planning rhythm so engineering commitments are realistic, achievable, and consistently met.
  • Drive effective execution by improving the quality and outcomes of delivery meetings through thoughtful preparation, clear decision-making, documented action items, and consistent follow-through.
  •  Coach Product and Engineering teams on practical delivery best practices that strengthen execution while maintaining a lean, low-bureaucracy operating model.
  • Gives leadership an accurate, current view of delivery health so decisions are made on real data rather than surprises.
  • Surfaces risk and dependencies early enough for the organization to act on them, rather than react to them.
  • Ensures releases go out ready, with scope, risk, and operational readiness confirmed before go-live.
  • Keeps delivery systems up to date, so status, ownership, and forecasts can be trusted by leadership.
  • Turns capacity and quarterly/sprint planning into a disciplined, repeatable cadence, so delivery commitments reflect real team capacity and hold up once work is underway.
  • Aligns Product and Engineering around realistic trade-offs and coaches teams toward practical, sustainable delivery habits.
  • Converts lessons learned into repeatable practices so delivery capability scales with the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications:

The following knowledge, skills, education, and experiences are required:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering delivery, technical program management, engineering operations, software program management, Scrum leadership, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex software initiatives across multiple teams or functions.
  • Strong planning, sequencing, dependency, risk, and delivery-forecasting skills.
  • Experience facilitating planning, refinement, delivery reviews, retrospectives, and release readiness.
  • Practical knowledge of Scrum and Kanban, with the judgment to adapt practices to organizational needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, including boards, workflows, dashboards, filters, and reporting.
  • Experience using delivery metrics such as cycle time, throughput, predictability, work in progress, and milestone health.
  • Working knowledge of software lifecycles, testing, releases, environments, APIs, integrations, CI/CD, and technical debt.
  • Ability to engage credibly with engineers without needing to perform development or make architecture decisions.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering leaders to translate priorities into executable plans.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to drive decisions, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without relying on direct authority.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, listening, and executive-communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify and communicate delivery risks early, directly, and constructively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely across functions.
  • A hands-on approach to reporting, workflows, facilitation, and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated interest and potential to grow into broader engineering-operations leadership.

The following knowledge, skills, and experiences are preferred, but not required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS, fintech, financial services, automotive technology, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting API-enabled, integration-heavy, data-intensive, or partner-delivered products.
  • Experience coordinating distributed, remote, outsourced, or offshore engineering teams.
  • Experience in a growing company where processes and structures are evolving.
  • Experience improving an engineering-delivery, engineering-operations, or technical-program-management model.
  • Agile, Scrum, project-management, or program-management certification.
