The cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with therapeutic menus and prescribed diets for residents. They must also maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment while ensuring all food handling techniques meet safety standards.
Candidates must have 2-3 years of experience in large quantity food preparation and hold a current Food Handler's Certificate. Knowledge of provincial food regulations and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks are also required.

This position is for our Extendicare Eaux Claires Home, located in Edmonton, Alberta.
Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
Prepares food and nourishments in accordance with prescribed diets.
Maintains all required records and monitors quality and quantity of food.
Ensure use of proper food handling techniques
Maintains a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring all work areas meet sanitation and safety standards.
2-3 years' minimum experience as a Cook
Current Food Handler`s Certificate
Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting
Must be knowledgeable of the Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating
Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift
Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
