Full job description
Job Description
Help protect and enable some of the UK and Ireland’s most significant renewable energy projects through expert insurance leadership, supporting the growth of wind, solar and battery technologies that will power a net zero future.
At EDF power solutions, we’re shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Your work will help us turn that ambition into action – delivering renewable energy solutions that will power homes, businesses and communities for generations to come.
As Insurance Manager, you'll play a key role in managing risk across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects. Your expertise will help safeguard investments, support commercial decision-making, and enable the successful delivery of infrastructure critical to a net zero future.
The Opportunity
As Insurance Manager, you’ll lead and influence insurance activities across a growing portfolio of onshore wind, offshore wind, solar and battery storage projects. Working closely with the Head of Insurance, you’ll provide expert advice on risk transfer, claims management, insurance placement, and contractual insurance requirements throughout development, construction and operational phases.
Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this hybrid role can be based from our offices in #Edinburgh, #London or #Durham. Flexible home working arrangements are available, with travel required for meetings and stakeholder engagement as needed across the UK and occasionally overseas.
You’ll work with senior stakeholders, project teams, brokers and shareholders to help deliver value while managing risk effectively. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact across a complex renewable energy portfolio while building your expertise within one of the UK and Ireland’s leading renewable energy businesses.
Why EDF power solutions?
We’re united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.
With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK and Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.
Who You Are
We’re looking for an experienced Insurance Manager who is proactive, self-motivated and comfortable building strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. You'll combine technical insurance expertise with strong analytical capability and effective communication. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…
Either a degree-level qualification in a related discipline, or significant insurance experience demonstrating an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.
Experience working as an insurance broker or in-house insurance specialist, with knowledge of claims management and construction contracts.
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to create and analyse spreadsheets for reporting and underwriting purposes.
Strong PowerPoint presentation skills with the ability to create clear and impactful slide decks
Proven stakeholder management experience, with the ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting the placement of insurance across EDF power solutions’ renewable energy portfolio in line with business risk appetite
Leading insurance activities for onshore wind, solar and battery energy storage projects
Managing claims efficiently while working with stakeholders to minimise costs and improve outcomes
Providing insurance advice and guidance for development, construction and operational projects
Reviewing insurance-related contractual provisions and providing practical commercial advice
Collaborating with brokers on renewal strategy, placements and ongoing portfolio management
Managing risk engineering activities, including site surveys and risk control initiatives
Working with shareholder insurance teams to align approaches and secure additional support when required
Leading the management of the insurance department’s risk management information system
Preparing and presenting underwriting and insurance data to support renewals and new insurance placements
Pay, Benefits and Culture
If you’re looking to join a company where you can work hard, have fun, and help to create a net zero future – then you’re in the right place! If you’re passionate about tackling climate change to support a cleaner, greener future, we’d love you to come and join us.
Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, our employee benefits include flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle – from electric vehicle leasing and private healthcare to extra holiday and more.
