Responsible for coding hospital records using ICD-10 and CPT codes to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance. The role involves abstracting statistical data and assigning appropriate DRGs and APCs within the hospital system.
Requires graduation from an AHIMA accredited medical coding program and the ability to pass a proficiency assessment. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required, while RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certifications are preferred.
