The Senior Project Manager manages the largest and most complex CMS projects and provides strategic insight within the Operations Department. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the administration, implementation, and management of key accounts, high revenue and/or politically sensitive equipment projects, and successfully delivers those projects to customers. The Senior Project Manager handles high-level functions delegated by the Operations Manager and serves as a trusted leader within the project management team.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000
This position is eligible for full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement options.

Position Details

Reports To: Team Lead or Operations Manager

Project Scope: Manages mechanical projects of all complexities and sizes with strategic oversight and a comprehensive understanding of scope, budget, and financial implications.

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Enters equipment orders, issues purchase orders, and ensures compliance with internal procurement processes
  • Compares estimated ship dates with contractor schedules and adjusts plans to maintain alignment
  • Coordinates scope of project, budgets, performance, and close-out with customers and all stakeholders
  • Communicates effectively with customers and their representatives including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff
  • Generates service work orders for equipment start-ups and service visits
  • Provides customers with proactive updates and anticipates their needs before they ask, building relationships based on trust and responsiveness
  • Oversees project budgets, ensuring profitability and compliance with company policies
  • Anticipates issues and resolves them proactively before they become problems, using past experiences and instinctively knowing how to handle challenging situations
  • Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to prevent complications down the line
  • Ensures projects meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget
  • Obtains acceptance and timely sign-off of the project by the customer
  • Manages demanding customers and vendors with known difficulties (delays, logistics, communication, etc.)

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentors and guides Project Administrators and PM team members, fostering professional growth and development
  • Takes initiative to better the Operations Team and CMS as a whole through continuous improvement and process innovation
  • Attends project meetings when requested by Customer or Vendor to provide senior-level oversight and representation

Technical & Operational Competencies

  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems and construction management, enabling effective project oversight and proactive problem-solving
  • Fully understands project processes, internal systems, and the financial implications of project execution
  • Demonstrates advanced financial literacy with comfort working with budgets, cost tracking, project accounting, and profitability analysis
  • Possesses a holistic perspective, focusing on overarching goals rather than just individual tasks
  • Maintains data integrity within CRM systems; required weekly reports are always up to date and information is current and accurate
  • Collaborates with other departments to streamline project execution and resolve cross-functional challenges

Customer Relationships & Business Development

  • Is viewed as a leader and reputable resource by peers, other CMS employees, customers, and vendors
  • Has a proven track record with customers of providing excellent service and maintaining customer satisfaction through constant engagement
  • Builds strong, professional relationships that support repeat business and foster customer loyalty
  • Proactively meets with the sales team and other stakeholders when needed throughout the project lifecycle

Additional Responsibilities

  • Visits jobsites and participates in CMS-provided training classes to maintain industry knowledge and stay current on best practices
  • Opportunity for advancement into Team Lead role or other leadership positions as the company grows

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of five (5) years of project management, HVAC-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive familiarity with commercial HVAC systems equipment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to CRM software
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment with frequent jobsite visits
  • Leadership presence and proven ability to mentor and influence others
  • Demonstrated initiative, strategic thinking, and commitment to continuous improvement

Salary ranges listed are dependent upon a candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the specific role and location.
