Employment Specialist – Help Build Inclusive Careers

Starting Pay: $24–$25/hr

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)

Location: Portland Metro Area

Are you passionate about helping people reach their full potential? Do you believe that everyone deserves meaningful, inclusive employment? Community Vision is hiring a full-time Employment Specialist to join our dynamic Employment Connections team.

In this role, you’ll support job seekers with developmental disabilities in finding careers that reflect their strengths, talents, and goals while also helping businesses build inclusive, diverse workplaces.

What You’ll Do:

  • Champion job seekers by helping them identify their skills, interests, and career goals
  • Build relationships with employers to understand their needs and promote inclusive hiring practices
  • Match candidates to the right job opportunities, setting them up for success
  • Provide hands-on support with accommodations, job readiness, and onboarding
  • Conduct skills assessments, mock interviews, and resume reviews
  • Support long-term job retention through initial and ongoing job-coaching
  • Recommend and coordinate skill-building opportunities to help candidates thrive
  • Work closely with your teammates to track progress and meet employment goals 

Requirements

  • Ability to conduct mock interviews
  • Resume writing skills
  • Ability to match candidates with job openings
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft suite
  • Ability to collaborate with employers and candidates 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of professional experience supporting people with disabilities and one (1) year of paid experience in customer service, sales, business development, or human resource management; OR a Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, human resources, or a closely related field with one (1) year of paid experience supporting people with disabilities. 
  • Willing and able to complete training in CPR/First Aid, medication administration, and Oregon Intervention System (OIS).
  • Must pass a criminal background check through Oregon DHS (initially and every two years).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must not be listed on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusion List.
