Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for the performance of a variety of duties in the Accounting department. Primary responsibilities will include G/L account reconciliations, end of day transaction reconciliation, coding and entering bank, AP and other transactions, creating invoices, credit notes and debit notes and preparing VAT returns. Other responsibilities will include the compilation of data and documents in support of audits, maintaining filing and record systems, supporting senior team members in the month-end closing and generally supporting ad hoc requirements of the Accounting department.
Job Duties
Prepare all bank and other G/L account reconciliations
Prepare end of day transaction reconciliations
Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as banks, accounts payable, cheques and invoices
Create invoices, debit notes and credit notes as required
Prepare monthly VAT returns
Assist with month end close procedures
Assist with audit procedures
Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions as required
Performs other duties as required
Prepare and generate accurate financial and management reports to support decision-making and provide clear visibility into accounting operations and performance.
Requirements
University Degree /College Diploma in Accounting required
Minimum 2 years work experience in accounting required
Computer literate, including strong Excel skills
Ability to adapt to and learn new software
Well-founded grasp of general ledgers and journal entries
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
Advanced proficiency in at least one recognized accounting software or ERP system, with the ability to efficiently process transactions, generate reports, and maintain financial records.
Strong understanding of inventory reconciliation, stock valuation, goods receipt, stock transfers, and inventory reporting.
