Brian Cox Mechanical, Inc. (BCM), an industry leading HVAC contractor headquartered in Poway California, has an opening for a Sheetmetal Laborer.
Position Summary
The Sheetmetal Laborer supports HVAC installation and fabrication operations by assisting the Sheetmetal Journeyman and Sheetmetal Management with performing the removal, installation and start – up of HVAC equipment in multi-family and commercial projects. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to follow instructions in construction and commercial jobsites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal ductwork and HVAC system components.
Install ductwork systems and related HVAC equipment in commercial, multi-family, and industrial facilities.
Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.
Load, unload, transport, and organize sheet metal materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
Measure, cut, bend, and prepare sheet metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment under the direction of experienced sheet metal workers.
Seal, insulate, secure, and fasten ductwork in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable building codes.
Assist with the layout, staging, and positioning of materials to ensure efficient installation and workflow.
Perform demolition, removal, and replacement of existing ductwork and HVAC components as required.
Operate equipment and tools safely while following all company policies and job site procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas to promote a productive and hazard-free environment.
Conduct basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of tools, equipment, and work vehicles.
Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements at all times.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead sheet metal workers, and other trades to support project completion.
Assist with material inventory, storage, and job site housekeeping.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or lead sheet metal personnel.

Knowledge of commercial construction practices preferred
Knowledge of ductwork takeoff experience ideal
Physical stamina and attention to detail throughout workday
