The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive. This role supports daily program operations, implements high-quality programming, and builds meaningful relationships with youth, families, and school partners.
This position plays an important role in fostering a culture of belonging, safety, and respect, while ensuring clear communication and strong partnerships with families and the school site.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Operations
Support the day-to-day operations and flow of the Club/site.
Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate programming that promotes youth voice, choice, and participation.
Facilitate assigned programs and activities in alignment with curriculum and organizational expectations.
Ensure programming meets state, licensing, and grant compliance requirements (DHS, Better Beginnings, USDA, etc.).
Accurately track attendance and enter data into Daxko and other systems as required.
Assist with maintaining required documentation, including attendance rosters and compliance logs.
Support meal program requirements, including proper documentation and procedures.
Maintain clean, organized, and emotionally safe program spaces.
Provide floor coverage and assist with opening/closing procedures as assigned.
Youth Development & Engagement
Build positive, supportive relationships with youth and serve as a consistent, caring presence.
Promote a trauma-informed, inclusive, and emotionally safe environment.
Support youth in developing social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, and positive behaviors.
Encourage participation, engagement, and a sense of belonging for all members.
Family Communication & Support
Greet families warmly during drop-off and pick-up, creating a welcoming and professional experience.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding member behavior, progress, and program updates.
Support conversations related to incident/accident reports and behavioral concerns.
Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and provide accurate information to families and community members.
Maintain timely, respectful, and clear communication with families to build trust and transparency.
School & Site Relationships
Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with school staff, including principals, teachers, and administrators.
Serve as a respectful and collaborative partner within the school environment.
Communicate appropriately with school personnel to support youth needs and ensure alignment.
Teamwork & Professionalism
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
Follow direction from leadership and support team goals and expectations.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
Step in to support team needs, including program coverage and daily operations.
Relationships
Internal: Build positive relationships with members, peers, and supervisors. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and alignment with Club values.
External: Maintain professional and respectful relationships with families, school staff, and community partners. Represent the Club with integrity and care. QualificationsSkills & Qualifications
Minimum 18 years old with a high school diploma
Experience working with youth in a school, Club, or similar setting (preferred)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to plan and facilitate engaging activities
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Understanding of youth development and trauma-informed practices (preferred)

Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
