Full job description

Fotografiska Berlin – the contemporary museum of photography, art, and culture – opened in September 2023 with a mission to inspire new perspectives and spark conversations through photography and contemporary art. More than a museum, it’s a vibrant cultural space where art, creativity, community—and cuisine—come together.

Our guests can enjoy creative dining experiences that blur the line between art, culture, and gastronomy. From specialty cocktails enjoyed while exploring the galleries to full-service dining in beautifully designed spaces, food and drink are integral to the Fotografiska experience.

The Role

As a Hospitality Assistant (part time / 20h per week) at Verōnika, you are a vital connector between guests and their experience — a versatile team member supporting the seamless flow of front-of-house operations. Whether welcoming guests, running food and drinks, refreshing table settings, or anticipating needs before they arise, you set a tone of understated luxury and authentic hospitality. You will collaborate closely with the host, server, bar, and management teams to deliver exceptional service at every point of contact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, polished welcome and gracious farewell to all members and guests.
  • Assist with greeting, guiding, and seating guests in collaboration with the Host team.
  • Run food and beverages from kitchen and bar with elegance, accuracy, and care.
  • Support servers by anticipating guest needs, refilling water, clearing dishes, and resetting tables with speed and attention to detail.
  • Maintain the flow of the floor by staying attuned to table turnover, pacing, and service rhythm.
  • Ensure all menus, table settings, and guest-facing materials are impeccably maintained.
  • Communicate guest needs and special requests to the appropriate team members in real time.
  • Keep all FOH areas tidy and service-ready, performing side duties and checklists as needed.
  • Participate in team briefings, service reviews, and ongoing training sessions.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic representative of Verōnika and Fotografiska, engaging guests in our story and offerings when appropriate.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a hospitality, runner, or service assistant role; fine dining or cultural destination experience preferred.
  • Poise, professionalism, and a genuine desire to deliver heartfelt service.
  • Comfort working within a dynamic, high-volume, guest-focused environment.
  • Menu knowledge and ability to present dishes in English and German
  • Minimum a few basic phrases in German to great and welcome our guests
  • Confidence navigating guest interactions in English; German and additional languages are a plus.
  • Proficiency with reservation platforms such as 7Rooms or TheFork is a plus.
  • Physical stamina to stand and move throughout long shift.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A collaborative spirit and commitment to supporting colleagues across roles.

Diversity & Representation: Fotografiska is committed to building and supporting diverse and representative communities, long-term career opportunities and extends Equal Employment Opportunities to qualified applicants and employees on an equal basis regardless of an individual's age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy status, marital status, military or veteran status, genetic disposition or any other reason protected by law.

    • Company Pension Plan
    • Company Health Insurance
    • Annual health budget for 13 high-quality services
    • Mobility subsidy
    • Food subsidy
