The British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (“BCCNM”) is the college empowered under the Health Professions and Occupations Act to regulate the practice of all licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered midwives, registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses in British Columbia. The expected starting hourly rate for this position is $22-23, depending on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience. 

What you’ll be doing

This position strengthens governance literacy, capability, and compliance across the organization by developing resources and education that support understanding of board roles, committee structures, decision-making processes, and evolving legislative and regulatory requirements (e.g., Health Professions and Occupations Act and new reporting relationship with the Health Professions and Occupations Act and Regulatory Oversight Office (HPOROO).

This position also contributes to organizational risk mitigation by strengthening governance capability, consistency, and compliance through the support and delivery of timely and effective education.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assists with the intake, organization, labeling, tracking, retention review, and disposition of physical records to support safe storage and intellectual control.
  2. Supports the review of physical records stored on and offsite to identify and prepare records that may be eligible for destruction under approved retention schedules and established procedures.
  3. Retrieves, examines, and documents box-level and file-level information, as required, to build and maintain a reliable inventory of physical records.
  4. Records inventory information accurately and ensures new physical records are accurately labeled, in good physical condition and stored in a manner that supports efficient retrieval and ongoing management.
  5. Supports other records management, documentations, and administrative tasks, as required.
  6. Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning related to Indigenous cultural safety and humility and to supporting organizational actions to address Indigenous-specific racism in BC’s health care system.
  7. Fosters and maintains an organizational culture that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion, mutual respect, teamwork, and service excellence.

      Your education & skills 

      1. Completion of relevant coursework in records management or a related field.
      2. Co-op or other work experience in , or administrative support preferred.
      3. Knowledge of physical records management principles, including records organization, inventory, retention, and disposition, is an asset.
      4. Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and document information accurately are required.
      5. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion is required.
      6. Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
      7. Must have the ability to work full time on-site.
      8. Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, including social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous-specific anti-racism and accompanying reports (e.g. The Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), the In Plain Sight Report (2020), and Reclaiming Power and Place’s Calls for Justice (2019)) is an asset. 
      9. Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility as they apply to health care is an asset.
