Landscape crews work independently with guidance from the Crew Supervisor and Director of Operations to meet or exceed customer expectations. The Landscaping Laborer performs a variety of landscaping maintenance work, such as raking, mowing, edging, pruning, and weeding, on commercial contracts.
Summary of Essential Job Duties
Tasks
Perform various landscaping maintenance duties on customer contracts as specified (i.e. mowing, weeding, edging, raking, clearing debris, etc.).
Demonstrate proper use of landscaping equipment, materials and supplies.
Coordinate workflow with guidance from the Crew Supervisor to ensure completion of contract requirements and deadlines.
Observe all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
Ensure completed work meets specified quality standards.
Report material, tool, and equipment repair needs as well as any malfunctions and shortages to the Crew Supervisor.
Model appropriate standards of conduct and act ethically.
Equipment Skills for this position
Gas Mower – ability to operate safely and mow in straight line without gaps.
Line Trimmer - ability to operate safely and trim grass evenly at variable speeds. Know when to feed more line.
Back Pack Blower - operate safely while using variable speeds to gather leaves and blow hard surfaces cleanly.
Rake - ability to rake debris/leaves into a pile; load onto tarp/garbage bin; continual for 10 min, no stoppage.
Hula (stirrup) Hoe – operate with enough pressure to cut the roots of weeds; continual for 10 min, no stoppage.
Litter Grabber - ability to pick up litter in a specified area without missing pieces of garbage.

QualificationsEducation and Experience
Some experience in landscaping industry (Preferred)
High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Ability to pass a DSHS Background Check in alignment with AtWork!’s policies.

The work environment is outdoors. As such, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and/or extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, and may also be exposed to high places, fumes, airborne particles, and/or chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high. Protective equipment is provided, and employees are required to wear it in certain conditions and when operating certain types of equipment.
