Purpose: To provide daily training to teach Consumer to attain and maintain the skills necessary

to achieve maximum functional independence. Support and promote the rights of Consumers

and function effectively as a member of Interdisciplinary Team.

Essential Functions: The BCBA’s responsibility is to develop behavior intervention plans,

curriculum & goals for student with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities. The BCBA

will monitor progress, develop and monitor implementation of particular protocols, data

collection and progress monitoring techniques.

 

  1. Basic Responsibilities
    • Follow ATC Policies and Procedures 
    • Maintain open communication with members of the Interdisciplinary Team. This may include participating in team meetings.
    • Communicate with caregivers as needed about behavioral updates.
    • Maintain up-to-date information on all students, including but not limited to:
      • Behavioral information in ARDs
      • Behavior plans
      • Catalyst
    • Provide in-service trainings to ensure that all school employees have a clear understanding of their roles and expectations
    • Ensure that school employees follow ATC Policies and Procedures by conducting regular observations in the classrooms and using the Performance Observation Forms.  
    • Provide corrective and constructive feedback to Teacher’s Assistants utilizing the Performance Observation Forms for professional behavior, student interaction, data collection, following behavioral protocols, and running academic programs
    • Conduct treatment integrity checks and IOA assessments
    • Provide training for new employees
    • Conduct behavioral assessments with students, including but not limited to VB-MAPP, ABLLS, AFLS, preference assessments, FBAs, and FAs
    • Identify functions of behavior and develop individualized behavior plans. Regularly analyze data, monitor progress, and modify behavior goals as needed. Ensure that all treatment components and modifications are approved by the Interdisciplinary Team.
    • Develop behavioral goals, transitions goals, and attend ARD meetings.
    • Assist with the development of academic goals and materials as needed by Lead Teachers.
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly progress notes.
    • Ensure behavioral strategies are implemented consistently and accurately across clinical systems in all settings.
    • Offer parent and/or district personnel training as needed.
    • Act as an active training member for direct care staff and management staff. This includes on-site staff training, orientation training, clinical and staff meetings.
    • Work 1:1 with students and run social skill groups when necessary
    • Uphold the BACB’s ethical and best practices guidelines. 
    • Attend community events and run information dissemination booths at events to increase interest and client base (some weekend during Autism Awareness Month – April)
    • Assist in other programs as needed
    • Assist with behaviors and deescelation techniques (SAMA)
    • Ensure quality supervision of EDU RBTs following the BACB guidelines

Requirements

  Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with providing behavioral services to individuals with ASD 
  • BCBA certifications through BACB
  • Master’s Degree

Hours

  • Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3 pm (up to discussion)  
  • Year round

Physical Requirements

Occasionally (1 – 33% of the time)

  • Lift and carry 40lbs – 80lbs while handling students
  • Push a  wheelchair holding a student whose total weight may exceed 200 pounds
  • Engage in gross motor movements such as running and physically redirecting students whose total weight may exceed 200 pounds in order to maintain their safety and the safety of others
  • Moderate strength and stamina are required in emergency situations

Frequently (34 – 66% of the time)

  • Perform SAMA techniques with students whose total weight may exceed 200 pounds

Constantly (67 – 100% of the time)

  • Engage in fine-motor movements such as grasping small objects
  • Engage in gross-motor movements such as standing, walking, bending, and squatting in order to respond to needs of the students
  • Engage in the range of motion necessary to work and play with the students
  • Engage in the range of motion necessary to assist with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, eating, and other personal care tasks

  • Meet physical requirements in order to safely manage behavior and actively participate with students
  • Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Maintain personal hygiene and care

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and SAMA certifications
  • Maintain current  Driver’s License
  • Maintain current automobile insurance
  • Maintain required annual training certifications provided by the company and/or agency licensing

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Perform SAMA techniques as needed
  • Perform CPR as needed
  • Perform abdominal thrust maneuver as needed
  • Respond quickly to emergency and/or life-threatening situations
  • Report any allegations of abuse and/or neglect

Use of Tools and Equipment 

  • Must be able to safely complete the following tasks involving tools and equipment:
    • Measure temperature using ear thermometer
    • Drive automobile or wheelchair-accessible van
    • Assist with the use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication Devices 
    • Monitor fire alarm devices
    • Use computers, tablets, iPads, copy machines, and cell phones as needed
