Full job description

The Regional Advertising Manager is responsible for total account management of display advertisers in their specific geographic territory. The primary functional duty is the sale of display advertising space to new and existing accounts in Transport Topics and other TTPG products. Secondary responsibilities include representing TTPG at industry trade shows and conferences. This position may interact with ATA staff, industry and government agencies, vendors, suppliers, subscribers and advertisers. 

This position is based in the incumbent’s home and has no supervisory responsibilities. This position is responsible for achieving its territory share of the display ad revenue budget. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for commission earnings through our sales incentive program.

The incumbent is expected to adhere to company policy and procedures, promote and foster a team-based work environment. They will demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and have the ability to manage and prioritize workload. They will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional disposition. They must consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position.

Travel is required 20-25% of the time.

CORE FUNCTIONS: 

1. Accomplishes sales objectives through in-person sales presentations, telemarketing efforts, mail and email correspondence, and other means of communication to prospective accounts and established advertisers. Develops account profiles and sales strategies. Prospects continually and heavily from appropriate databases. Qualifies or eliminates potential customers, and determines whether and how to pursue the sale. 

2. Presents proposal to potential customer, handles objections and negotiates where necessary in order to close the sale. Closes the sale and processes the customer’s order by completing, coordinating and submitting all required paperwork to TTPG in-house ad/production coordinator.

3. Promotes cross-selling opportunities with TTPG’s Online products by referring prospective leads, educating advertisers on advantages of online and print media opportunities.

4. Meets all required sales reporting requirements to ensure TTPG can effectively allocate and manage internal and external resources.

5. Maintains current technical, product and procedure knowledge by attending required training and reading product information and updates to maximize effectiveness in closing sales and ensuring smooth customer account implementation.

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS: 

Education/Relevant Experience- 4-year degree in business, advertising, marketing or related field preferred plus a minimum of 5 years direct sales experience required.

Skill Requirements- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, planning, organizing and analysis skills.  Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills are required.  Must be adaptable, pay attention to detail and possess excellent time management skills.  A team player attitude is essential.
