Department overview
Industrial Engineering department is responsible for driving operational efficiency, optimising labour and processes, and supporting data driven decision making across manufacturing. Through structured analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on lean principles, the team ensures sustainable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost performance in line with business objectives.
Job purpose
To define, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing labour and process performance through work study, constraint analysis, and structured lean methodologies, ensuring operational robustness and efficiency across all production areas.
Key duties and responsibilities
Lead and execute structured work studies across current and future processes to accurately define and validate HPC (Hours Per Car), ensuring labour models reflect true operational demand.
Systematically identify Non-Value Add (NVA) activity and engineer process improvements that eliminate waste and improve flow efficiency.
Conduct constraint mapping to identify bottlenecks, evaluate capacity risks, and assess the operational impact of product mix and volume changes.
Develop, own, and maintain robust Man Assignments (Work Allocation Reports), ensuring full alignment with process systems (EASE) and operational standards.
Maintain and evolve crew sheet structures to reflect both current and future state organisational requirements.
Support technical and operational sign-off for containments and engineering releases, ensuring labour and process impacts are fully understood and controlled.
Lead Make-vs-Buy evaluations for new and existing processes, providing structured cost, capacity, and capability analysis to support insource/outsource decisions.
Operate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to ensure industrial feasibility, labour robustness, and process readiness.
Develop forward-looking planning scenarios for future models, aligned to programme requirements and long-term volume strategy.
Contribute actively to departmental objectives, ensuring alignment with broader Aston Martin business priorities and performance targets.
Build strong stakeholder relationships across the business, positioning MBO as the authority for labour modelling, balancing, and operational optimisation activities.
