Lineworker

Lehighton seeks Lineworker

The Borough of Lehighton is seeking applicants for the position of Lineworker. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, operating line trucks and related equipment; performing secondary line maintenance; working on overhead and underground distribution lines; climbing poles and working off hooks; maintaining streetlighting and traffic signals; and assisting other staff members with day-to-day responsibilities.

The Borough is seeking a candidate interested in starting a life in the Pocono Mountains, living in a small, quiet, and walkable community. Most of the Borough of Lehighton’s workforce consists of career employees who retire here with their pension. The Borough is conveniently located along the Pennsylvania Turnpike and only a short drive to I-80 and I-78. The Allentown-Bethlehem area provides close city amenities, and only two hours from New York and Philadelphia, making Lehighton a prime location to relocate.

Applicants must have successfully completed an acceptable electrical lineworker program. Applicants must also possess a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License and have a high school diploma or the GED equivalent. First aid and CPR certifications are required for the position and will be paid for by the Borough. Additional on-job training/education may be required in tandem with working responsibilities and will be paid for by the Borough. Continued employment with the Borough is contingent on maintaining and advancing in the listed certifications as required. Applicants must also possess normal health and sensory functions, including strength, dexterity, color perception, near/distant visual acuity, and hearing as required to perform normal job duties safely and effectively. Qualified applicants must possess the ability to lift 80 pounds to waist-height to perform job duties. Applicants must be willing and able to work under special or unusual working conditions, be willing to work extra or irregular hours, be willing to work according to the Borough’s standards, and be willing to work with the highest degree of integrity and self-discipline.

The starting salary for this position is $34.11 per hour ($70,948 per year) with yearly raises guaranteed. Medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance coverages are included with full-time employment. Employees are provided 12 paid holidays plus vacation, sick, and personal time. Employees are automatically enrolled in a pension plan at the time of hire.
