Position Summary:
The “mission” of a Field Representative as the “face, eyes and ears” of the AKC is to be the ultimate mentor for current and future generations of judges, trial chairs and participants which, in addition to other responsibilities. This is achieved by dedication to the organization and satisfaction in ensuring constituents are treated with the highest quality customer experience, knowing that the majority are to be attended to with appreciation as volunteers. The care of our customers is a central responsibility.
Assists the Field Director for Scent Work in providing a highly visible image through the development and direction of the Scent Work performance events program. The primary purpose is to assist in the education of judges, provide support to clubs and exhibitors in a positive manner while also enforcing the regulations which govern the sport. The Field Representative for the Scent Work program serves as a resource for internal staff, the Field Director and the scent work community.
Primary job duties:
• Reports to the Field Director and serves as a general resource for the sport in the field.
• Completes assigned travel schedule to trials including judging seminars.
• Conducts educational seminars for judges hosted by clubs.
• Assists in the launch of new programs /enhancements as needed.
• Provides feedback based on observations within in the sport and provides feasible solutions.
• Remains cognizant of the general health of the program and current trends.
• Maintains awareness of similar programs offered through other organizations and how they compare to AKC. (Nosework)
• Assists Field Director on growth projects as needed and ideas for for future growth or maintenance of sport.
• Reports on how successful a host club has conducted their test or trial through formal reporting.
• Develops the judges’ seminar program and monitors poorly performing or problematic judges.
• Assists the Field Director in coverage at key major events or where needed.
• Assists the Field Director with yearly National and Regionals as needed.
• Utilizes tact and diplomacy skills in the field particularly when dealing with hi-profile individuals or issues in the sport.
• Works in conjunction with in-house staff to address regulation/rule violations of certain clubs, judges or exhibitors.
While not required, candidates located in Missouri (MO) are strongly preferred.
The salary for this position is $20.00/hour; however, rate offered may vary depending on skill, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
