The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.
The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.
In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students.
Judicial Deputy
Job Summary
The AMS Judicial Affairs Office is authorized by the AMS Constitution to investigate all cases of policy-infringement, and Level I Non-Academic Misconduct Cases.
Each Judicial Affairs Deputy will be assigned to one of the judicial managers, to support the development and implementation of educational material and sanctions for respondents involved in judicial proceedings. The Judicial Affairs Deputy must be well informed and understanding of proceeding procedures, and available to answer questions about the Non-Academic Misconduct System and/or the Judicial Affairs Office to various stakeholders.
This position is not open to applicants in First Year or students who hold an elected position on the AMS assembly. Preference will be given to students with experience in the judicial branch of the AMS.

JOB DUTIES
Uphold a strict and high standard of confidentiality and privacy relating to all judicial proceedings.
Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department
Answer questions about the Non-Academic Misconduct System or Policy Infringement with support from the manager
Support various internal training programs to educate students in faculty societies involved with disciplinary procedures on the pillars of the office
Support in-person outreach and elections to ensure the integrity of the election booths are being met
Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards
Maintain timely communication with your direct supervisor
Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively
Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all
Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement
Complete other job duties as assigned
