POSITION SUMMARY:
Technician II – SMT Operator is responsible for assembly and rework of printed circuit boards to support R&D activities and to meet production schedules and performance standards. Duties and tasks are standardized but what is performed will vary day to day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate PCB assembly machines and/or hand solder to assemble circuit boards, including but not limited to:
SMT placement, reflow, and solder print
Component kitting
Optical inspection
Conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating
Routine inspection and maintenance of equipment
Performs rework and touch-up soldering as needed
Reads and follows assembly prints, schematics, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications for electro-mechanical assemblies
Keeps accurate and up-to-date records
Participates in troubleshooting and problem solving
Recognizes equipment and product problems and troubleshoots in order to achieve optimum production levels
Interfaces with others to communicate issues, troubleshoot failures, and maintain a high standard of quality and repeatability in processes, products, and machinery
Other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
On-site Redwood City, CA
Primarily works in a manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast paced. Because of the nature of the product being produced, high voltage and current conditions exist, and appropriate precautions must be observed
Overtime may be needed in times of increased production

QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly.
Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math functions
Ability to identify components
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, work instructions, BOMs, drawings
Ability to work independently
Familiarity with IPC standards and ESD precautions
Ability to recognize problems in the process or with components and resolve problems
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Basic PC knowledge.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience in through-hole and SMT soldering/rework
Two years of experience operating SMT equipment preferred
Electro-mechanical assembly experience preferred
Proven ability and experience maintaining flexibility and being able to adapt in a team environment.
Knowledge and understanding of ESD practices.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering is preferred
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $30.00 per hour to $35.00 per hour.
