Summary
The X-Ray Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures to support physician evaluation and patient treatment while ensuring high-quality radiographic imaging and patient safety. This role is responsible for conducting radiologic exams, maintaining imaging documentation, supporting departmental operations, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety and organizational standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiologic exams and imaging procedures in accordance with established imaging protocols, physician orders, and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Position patients appropriately and obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and professionalism.
- Transport patients to and from imaging areas and assist patients requiring mobility support or accommodations.
- Maintain imaging files and documentation, including burning CD discs, importing outside imaging studies, and fulfilling patient, provider, and attorney image requests in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
- Support departmental cleanliness, exam room preparation, equipment maintenance coordination, and OSHA compliance standards.
- Report equipment malfunctions, imaging concerns, and operational issues to Radiology leadership promptly.
- Collaborate with Radiology staff, Clinical teams, and operational departments to support efficient workflows and exceptional patient care.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA regulations, radiation safety requirements, ARRT standards, and organizational policies.
- Participate in departmental meetings, competency validation, training activities, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
- Minimum 1 year of radiologic technologist experience within a fast-paced orthopedic or healthcare environment preferred.
- Knowledge of radiographic imaging procedures, patient positioning, radiation safety standards, and healthcare operations required.
- Experience with athenaOne EMR, PACS systems, digital radiography systems, Microsoft Word, and healthcare imaging technology preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining professionalism, patient safety, and attention to detail.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Clinical and imaging-based role requiring prolonged standing, walking, patient transport, equipment operation, and regular communication. Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds may be required. Work environment may involve exposure to radiographic equipment, moderate to loud noise levels, and fast-paced clinical situations.
