Company Description
Join us. But be you. At Deloitte, you’ll do more than just join something, you’ll add something. You’ve found a place that values your curiosity, passion, and desire to work alongside brilliant people on the things that really matter. There really is only one question: What impact do YOU want to make?
About this team:
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced and talented Manager to join our Technology Strategy & Transformation team, working in a client-facing advisory capacity across a wide range of organisations and industries.
Our Technology Strategy and Transformation team (TS&T) at Deloitte works closely with business executives and digital/IT leaders to provide trusted technology and transformation advice, helping them optimise their business technology landscape, set their technology strategy, and prepare their organisations for business transformation. We work across multiple industries and sectors to advise organisations on how they use technology for efficiency, effectiveness, and competitive advantage, often operating as an extension of our clients’ leadership teams.
The TS&T team act as strategic advisors to New Zealand businesses to enable them to better leverage technology on their digital transformation journeys. This role is typically advisory-led, combining structured problem solving, stakeholder engagement, and practical recommendations. Some examples of the work we do are:
Advising executive and senior leaders to design technology strategies aligned to business outcomes for organisations
Designing and implementing operating models for technology, transformation, and digital functions
Completing requirements gathering and options analysis activities for new business applications and/or capabilities
Technology procurement and commercial management for new or existing business applications and platforms, including market assessments and vendor evaluations
Enterprise architecture advisory including system rationalisation and scaling for future growth
Designing and getting agreement on transformation programmes including business case development, delivery methodologies and strategies, and approaches to value realisation, often supporting governance and decision-making forums
Job Description
Successful applicants should have experience in most of the following areas:
Analytical & Advisory Skills: Ability to analyse data, diagnose client needs, synthesise insights, and recognise key points for improvement with clear, practical recommendations
Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving: Strategic mindset with experience structuring and solving ambiguous business and technology problems in a consulting or advisory environment
Tech Savviness: Ability to apply relevant emerging technology and day‑to‑day operations knowledge to create high‑impact, business‑focused client solutions
Effective Communication: Ability to deliver well‑structured and well‑articulated written and verbal advice, including presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders
Managing Quality & Risk: Delivering high-quality advisory outputs while identifying, managing, and communicating risks with integrity
Adaptive to Change: Responding to changing client needs and environments with resilience and a solutions‑focused mindset
You will also need to:
Manage advisory engagements for clients including resources (internal and client resources), budgets, scope, and deliverables
Provide people leadership and coaching
Drive business development/sales
Qualifications
Enough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone with:
6+ years’ experience in consulting, advisory, or professional services, or relevant industry experience where you have worked in an advisory or stakeholder‑facing role to deliver structured recommendations
A demonstrated history of working with senior stakeholders (e.g. Senior Leadership Team, Board, etc.) to influence, advise, and gain alignment on technology priorities
A good understanding of core technology and enterprise architecture concepts through practical experience and knowledge of technology trends (e.g. Mobility, Cloud, Digital, etc.)
A strong understanding of how technology functions are structured and the services they provide (e.g. core IT operations, ITIL/ITSM concepts, etc.)
Exposure to a range of enterprise technology systems and solutions (e.g. ERP/HRIS/FMIS/CRM/BI etc.), including the ability to assess suitability and trade‑offs, as well as awareness of current market trends
The ability to confidently tackle ambiguous problems by structuring an approach in a logical flow with strong presentation and storytelling skills (e.g. generating and presenting advice to Steering Committees, Executive Teams, and Boards)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business‑relevant advice while building long‑lasting and trusted relationships
Experience designing, facilitating, and translating outputs of workshops with broad stakeholder groups to drive alignment, decision‑making, and investment outcomes
As a manager you are also someone with:
Business development and sales experience with proven results
Leadership skills and experience to drive quality outcomes
