The role combines clinical work as a physician at NOK Clinics with a PhD research project focused on nutrition and vitamin deficiencies in obese patients. Responsibilities include medical guidance for patients treated with surgery or medication and conducting studies ranging from questionnaires to nutrikinetic research.
The candidate must be a qualified physician capable of combining clinical practice with academic research. They should be interested in nutrition, metabolism, and the treatment of obesity.

Maar wat doet die behandeling eigenlijk met iemands voedingsinname, eetgedrag en vitaminestatus? Daar is nog verrassend weinig over bekend - en dat gaan we samen met jou onderzoeken. Voor een nieuwe onderzoekslijn van NOK Clinics en NUTRIM (Universiteit Maastricht) zoeken we een arts die klinisch werk wil combineren met een promotietraject van 3,5 jaar.
Wat ga je doen?
Als onderzoeker (24 uur per week) breng je in kaart:
Hoe voedingsinname, voedingsvoorkeuren en eetgedrag veranderen tijdens medicamenteuze behandeling;
Hoe vaak voedings- en vitaminetekorten voorkomen bij deze doelgroep;
Wat de beste preventieve behandeling hiervoor is;
Je onderzoek varieert van cross-sectioneel vragenlijstonderzoek tot nutrikinetisch onderzoek, binnen de onderzoeksgroep Physiology of Human Nutrition (PHuN) van de Universiteit Maastricht. Je sluit aan bij een actieve onderzoeksgroep met meerdere promovendi en krijgt inhoudelijke begeleiding van onze onderzoekscoördinator.
Als arts (16 uur per week) begeleid je cliënten die zowel met chirurgie als medicatie behandeld worden samen met de coach. Daarnaast ben je verantwoordelijk voor de medische begeleiding en controles.
Je bent BIG-geregistreerd arts;
Je hebt affiniteit met of interesse in wetenschappelijk onderzoek;
Je vindt het interessant om aan de voorkant te staan van een relatief onontgonnen onderzoeksgebied;
Je kunt zelfstandig werken en schakelt makkelijk tussen klinische praktijk en onderzoek.
Wat bieden we?
Arbeidsovereenkomst bij de Nederlandse Obesitas Kliniek (NOK) voor de duur van het onderzoekstraject (3,5 jaar), met de mogelijkheid tot verlenging;
40 uur per week: 16 uur klinisch werk - 24 uur onderzoek - verdeling in overleg met de vestigingsmanager van NOK Zuid;
Werkplek in Venlo en Heerlen (verdeling in overleg);
Je draait geen diensten;
Salaris conform CAO ZKN: FWG 65 voor je werk als arts, FWG 45 voor je werk als onderzoek. Inschaling op basis van kennis en ervaring;
Vaste 13e maand en trainingsaanbod via de NOK Academy;
Toegang tot het internationaal erkende PhD-programma van NUTRIM, met uitstekende begeleiding en opleiding.
Over NOK Clinics & Nutrium
De Nederlandse Obesitas Kliniek (NOK) is de grootste en meest gespecialiseerde zelfstandige kliniek in Nederland voor behandeling van mensen met overgewicht en obesitas. Al meer dan 30 jaar behandelen wij op onze 11 locaties mensen door middel van een metabole bariatrische chirurgie of medicatie in combinatie met leefstijlbegeleiding en dit doen wij in multidisciplinaire teams.
NUTRIM (Universiteit Maastricht) is een toonaangevend onderzoeksinstituut met zo’n 450 onderzoekers, waaronder 300 PhD-kandidaten, gericht op voeding, leeftstijl en gepersonaliseerde geneeskune. NUTRIM bevordert gezondheid en gepersonaliseerde geneeskunde door leefstijl- en ziektegerelateerde stofwisselingsverstoringen te onderzoeken en gerichte voedings-, bewegings- en farmacologische interventies te ontwikkelen. Dit wordt ondersteund door geavanceerde onderzoeksinfrastructuur en nauwe samenwerking tussen wetenschappers, clinici en studenten.
Het internationeel erkende PhD-programma biedt uitstekende begeleiding en opleiding, waardoor jonge onderzoekers worden gestimuleerd om een brug te slaan tussen fundamentele wetenschap, klinische praktijk en volksgezondheid.

The Nederlandse Obesitas Kliniek (NOK) was founded in 1993 as a center of conservative treatment of morbid obesity. By the end of 2007 Zorginitiatieven B.V. bought the NOK with one clinic in Hilversum to use it as a springboard to transform the business concept into reality. The concept entails the full integrated treatment of patients with obesity in which surgery, internal medicine, psychology, dietetics and physiotherapy is offered as an interdisciplinary health product. In the last two years the health protocol is developed meticulously; two new locations are opened; a joint venture is set up with hospitals and involved surgeons and a complete information system has been developed. Furthermore several opportunities are developed for more joint ventures, new locations and a new product development is in place to address other target groups with obesity The most leading surgeons in Holland are involved with NOK and together with the medical specialists, psychologists and paramedics the unique and leading concept is realized to treat patients with obesity. NOK is in that the largest clique in the Netherlands, with 3100 patients treated in 2012. The health product offered by NOK in the Netherlands fits one on one with the new guidelines for the treatment of morbid obesity and is in accordance with the Health Standard, which is determined by the Dutch government and the Dutch Health Authority.
