The role involves verifying and maintaining radiation dose calculations and evaluating equipment performance for radiation therapy. It also includes performing quality assurance procedures and providing instruction to residents and clinical staff.
Requires a postgraduate degree in Medical Physics or Physics and certification from the ABR or ABMP. Candidates must have at least three years of post-degree clinical medical physics experience.
Verifies, documents and maintains all information used in calculation and delivery of radiation doses given to patients. Analyzes and evaluates equipment performance used in the delivery of radiation therapy. Provides technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed. Remains current in treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practice. Provides instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, pre and postdoctoral students. Develops, and performs quality assurance procedures and monitors radiation output, mechanical integrity and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy. Remains current on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines.
