The Electrical Engineer is responsible of leading all the machine improvement projects focusing mostly on the Electrical improvements, working together with a multidisciplinary group, leading the group to the correct decision, analyzing the feasibility, cost, complexity, impact and other variables.

The Electrical Engineer must analyze technical data of the machines, scrap, speed, time between failures, availability, etc., in order to propose solutions or improvements to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance throughout machine improvements. After analyzing all data, this person should present the project to the management, looking for approval.

After the project has been approved, he/she will be responsible of designing all the electrical improvements, place the purchase order of all the needed components and/or raw material, track the manufacturing process, find suppliers, provide technical guidance to the support technicians, lead the dismantling/assembly process and be responsible to deliver the necessary technical documentation (i.e. drawings, diagrams, etc.)

The Electrical Engineer is also responsible for supporting the Operations department in resolving critical issues that require additional technical expertise not available within their team (incl. updating electrical schematics, performing modification of electrical components/cabinets and implementing software upgrades into the machines).  The objective is that correct and timely production remains the top priority for everyone in COLOPLAST.

He/She will integrate the Technical Support Team (TST) within the Operation Development department (Engineering). This multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians will ensure successful execution of machine improvement projects and provide specialized technical support to the daily needs and challenges presented by the Operations department (Production)

Areas of Responsibility:

• Develop machine improvement initiatives to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities and optimize process performance
• Define and track the KPIs of the improvement processes and define each improvement project with a clear identification of stakeholders and deliverables
• Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
• Drive troubleshooting and crisis situations to get the project back on track when needed
• Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
• Prepare project presentations for management when needed
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Review and update machine procedures and documents based on project requirements.
• Design and implement electrical improvements (incl.  creation and update of electrical schematics, assembly or modification of electrical components/cabinets and implementation software upgrades into the machines)
• Ensure documentation of tasks and changes implemented
• Proper coordination between departments to make sure all improvement tasks will not interfere with the regular production
• Support Operations Team with troubleshooting and ensure the continued availability of the production machines
• Train and guide resources as needed
• Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
• Other duties as assigned

Essential qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineer or relevant area
• 3-4 years of work experience in related positions
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken, in English. Level: B1 – Intermediate (based on the Common European Framework).
• Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies and best practices
• Project Management experience is a plus
• Self-motivated and a genuine interest in improving processes and internal customer relationships.
• Ability to create/update electrical schematics is a must (E-Plan, PC Schematics or similar platforms)
• Ability to design, assemble or perform modification related to electrical components/cabinets of automated industrial machines is a must
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/diagrams (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic)
• Ability to prepare technical reports for documenting issues/changes to equipment.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming in at least one of the following platforms is preferred: Rockwell, Omron, Siemens and Schneider (RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, CX Programmer, Simatic Step 7,Tia Portal, Machine Expert)
• Knowledge of Robot programming in at least one of the following technologies is preferred: Denso, ABB, KUKA or Fanuc
• Vision system programing knowledge is preferred (Cognex and Omron)
• HMI programing knowledge, is preferred.
• Experience in maintaining automated industrial machines
• Basic Knowledge in Autocad and Solidworks is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to details;

Other job requirements:

• Able to work other shifts 
• Initial onboarding travelling for training purposes during the first year (up to 3 consecutive weeks)
• Occasional travelling up to 5 weeks a year (mostly for machine acceptance tests at supplier facilities or for training purposes)
