Job Description
Job Title: Process Engineer - Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul
Working Pattern - Full Time
Working location: Bristol / Hybrid
Rolls-Royce are seeking to to fill 6 positions within the teams that make up the Overhaul & Maintenance Methods (OMM) skill group as part of the UK&I Defence Mature Programmes portfolio. You will define, validate, and support the implementation of maintenance policies and procedures at product level. This includes build and strip method and identify associated special to type tooling. There are three types of role on offer, each supporting the creation, sustainment and development of our maintenance methods for our UK Defence Customers: Technical Documentation, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Ground Support Equipment – Tooling.
Engineers in this team are primarily responsible for defining the safe, reliable, and cost-effective method of maintenance and overhaul of our products. They do this by ensuring that the support solutions defined (including technical instructions and associated tooling) are stable, repeatable, and seamlessly integrate with the product maintenance and overhaul network, including validation oversight.
They provide technical support in ensuring processes are adhered to and feasible alternatives are approved and rolled out accordingly. They also influence the design of the engine to allow it to be well supported. This is a highly challenging, varied, and interesting role with a strong customer and engineering focus.
Why Rolls-Royce?
Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.
We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.
We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.
We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.
You will define, validate, and support the implementation of repair instructions, inspection criteria, maintenance policies and procedures at component level. This will enable you to develop your ability to solve problems, define requirements, and prepare repair definitions. You will be required to work closely with other Engineering teams including Systems & Component Design, Materials Applications and Manufacturing Engineering, gaining additional understanding and skills.
What we offer
We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing
Develop and validate maintenance concepts, methods, and tools to enhance assembly maintainability and support Engine MRO operations. Provide technical support to ensure efficient, rate-ready, and production-friendly maintenance methods.
Manage the design and manufacturing of Ground Support Equipment within the supply chain, ensuring efficient processes and improved product delivery.
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in Engine MRO while continuously improving processes and tools to develop and support Engine MRO.
Ensure technical compliance with regulatory, contractual, and customer requirements, and develop and disseminate maintenance policies through technical publications for operators.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including Manufacturing Engineering, MRO Bases, Service Operations, and Design teams, to improve technical solutions, support Part 145 MRO operations, and set up new overhaul facilities and capabilities.
Lead and support Product Safety through the development of high-quality methods, tooling and facility sustainment.
Who we’re looking for:
At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form the behaviours that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles. To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM subject and/or have experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls).
An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters to varying timelines and with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of product design methodology, materials, repair, lifecycle engineering, manufacturing engineering and special processes with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and apply systems thinking.
Familiarity with the use and creation of technical publications such as maintenance manuals and illustrated parts catalogues. Competency in XML and SGML or technical publication editing tools is desirable but not essential.
Good knowledge of the Defence Mature engines portfolio, specifically around the functionality of relevant systems and components with full consideration of the intended form, fit and function of the product.
To work for Rolls-Royce you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
Rolls-Royce are committed to being a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace where individuality is valued, diverse perspectives fuel innovation, and everyone can thrive
Closing date - 12/08/26
As part of our selection process, candidates in certain locations may be asked to complete an online assessment, which can include cognitive and behavioural aptitude testing relevant to the role. If required, full instructions for the next steps will be provided.
