Duties & Responsibilities:
The mission of the School of Nursing is to champion health and well-being through the power of nursing education, discovery, and practice. This 12-month term (non-tenure earning) faculty position serves as the Director of Clinical Operations of the Mobile Health and Wellness Program (MHWP) sites with a focus on clinical teaching, thus contributing to the clinical education and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate students. This includes incorporating evidence-based practice into teaching and clinical activities and maintaining a commitment to serving the school of nursing, the university, the profession, and the community. The position also includes assistance with program development and implementation related to service provision at the MHWP sites, with a primary focus on addressing food insecurity. Appointment to academic rank and salary are dependent on clinical nursing and teaching experience. The summary below outlines the primary duties of this role. However, other duties may be assigned as needed.
Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MHWP curricula with an emphasis on clinical teaching, including incorporating evidence-based practice into teaching and clinical activities.
Collaborates with the MHWP team, interprofessional faculty, students, and participants to support education, service, and research activities.
Assists with developing the schedules and content areas for MHWP educational didactic sessions.
Precepts School of Nursing nurse practitioner, undergraduate students, and IPEC students at MHWP sites. Participates in student evaluations as needed.
Maintains Affiliate Faculty status in the School of Medicine.
Guest lectures as requested.
Responsible for coordinating activities related to the Food is Medicine Program.
Provides clinical services related to promoting health and wellness, chronic disease monitoring, coordination of care, and transitional care within the credentialed scope of practice.
Demonstrates excellence in clinical teaching and service missions in an urban research-intensive university with an academic health system.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to deliver quality clinical education that fosters a welcoming and varied environment.
Develops, expands, and maintains relationships with community partners that facilitate learning experience and enhance the mission of MHWP.
Maintains a commitment to serving the school of nursing, university, professional community, including contributing to the university and school’s strategic plans.
The Director works with the Associate Dean for Practice and Community Engagement (ADPCE) to strategically support the operational and curricular components of the MHWP under the direction of the ADPCE.
Dedicated clinical presence is required at MHWP sites to support clinical education and practice.
Serves as site lead at the Urban sites, to ensure the smooth operations of daily activities.
Functions/Responsibilities:
Works closely with the ADPCE to manage the daily operations of RHWP.
Promotes positive collaborative relationships with community partner agencies where teaching and service activities take place.
Oversees the integration and coordination of nursing student engagement with RHWP, including within discipline evaluation as well as participate in refining interprofessional education evaluation for students engaged with RHWP.
Assists with refining integration of RHWP into the East End Initiative.
Maintains personal academic faculty obligations in teaching, scholarship, and service in accordance with area of expertise as consistent with the negotiated workload.
Interfaces with external constituents (university or community) as assigned.
Assists with reports to external partners related to RHWP.

Evaluation is based on performance goals and criteria consistent with functions and responsibilities as outlined above.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in nursing
Doctoral Degree in Nursing, or currently enrolled in a doctoral nursing program
Licensed as a nurse practitioner in Virginia
Experience in working with underserved populations
Experience teaching in a clinical or academic setting
Involvement in service-related activities consistent with area of clinical practice
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education including teaching, simulation instruction, accreditation, program review or assessment
Record of accomplishments in professional service
Experience working in mobile clinics and/or community health
Position will remain open until filled, with a priority application date of September 21.
