Your mission
Who are we?
War Child Netherlands (WCNL) is one of the fundraising members of the War Child Alliance. In addition to its fundraising activities, it offers MHPSS support to children and families with a refugee background. War Child has developed a set of evidence-based interventions. In the Netherlands, War Child implements the following MHPSS interventions:
EASE (Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions): War Child has, led by WHO, developed, piloted and researched EASE, with the aim to train communities and partner organisations to implement quality and timely mental support to youth. EASE is an early treatment intervention for groups of youth (10-15 years old) exposed to armed conflict, displacement, and other forms of adversity. The program is designed to help reduce stress and improve the wellbeing of youth who experience mental health problems.
BeThere: War Child has developed a group intervention for caregivers of children exposed to armed conflict, displacement, and other forms of adversity. The program is designed to help caregivers reduce their own stress and find greater support, so that they feel better emotionally, and have more energy to be the kind of parents they wish to be. The intervention aims to increase knowledge and skills related to parenting, to lower the stress of raising children in difficult conditions.
Purpose of the role
War Child facilitators are responsible for the direct implementation of War Child's interventions with adolescents and caregivers living in refugee shelters and reception centers across the Netherlands. Facilitators work in pairs. They are trained, coached and supervised by War Child's trainers and supervisors. The facilitators will support the scale up of the EASE and Be There interventions in the Netherlands.

Collaborate and coordinate with the project and coordination team in relation to all project activities

Mobilize adolescents and caregivers to participate in the EASE and BeThere meetings and any related activities and meetings
Organize and plan EASE and/or BeThere meetings (logistics, timing etc)
Plan and carry out intake and pre/post assessments, following protocol, with participating adolescents and caregivers
Prepare and facilitate EASE and/or BeThere meetings, in line with the manual but adapting to specific needs as appropriate
Represent War Child NL on location before, during and after the implementation of the EASE and BeThere projects
2. Cultural contextualisation and adaptation
Gather input from adolescents and caregivers to check the appropriateness of War Child's interventions
Suggest cultural and other contextual adaptations in War Child's psychosocial interventions based on input from participants, your own experience during implementation and cultural background
Make adaptations and translations in the intervention materials upon request.
3. Monitoring and evaluation
Collect relevant quality of care data throughout the implementation of an intervention, i.e. attendance, fidelity and competency and complete the designated reporting forms
