The Maintenance Assistant will perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and painting tasks across the resort's accommodation and public facilities. They are also responsible for responding to guest maintenance requests and ensuring all work adheres to health and safety standards.
Candidates should have previous experience in maintenance, building, or trade work, with specific proficiency in painting and finishing. A current full New Zealand driver's license is preferred, and applicants must possess legal working rights in New Zealand.

Wairakei Resort Taupō is seeking a motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our Engineering team on a part-time, fixed-term contract through to 1 April 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of New Zealand's most iconic resorts, helping maintain our accommodation, public spaces, and guest facilities to a high standard. .
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring Wairakei Resort Taupō is presented to the highest standard for our guests. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will carry out a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and painting tasks across our accommodation, public areas, and resort facilities.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, helping maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our guests and team members.
We're looking for someone who:
Has previous maintenance, handyman, building, or trade experience
Has painting experience and can complete painting and finishing work to a high standard..
Is practical with good problem-solving skills.
Can work independently and manage their workload.
Has excellent attention to detail.
Takes pride in producing quality work.
Is physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying equipment.
Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
Holds a current full New Zealand driver's licence (preferred).
Hours for this role are between 7am at 8pm base don a roster system- Weekend work will be included
