Teaching and Assessment Strategist, Edwards School of Business
Summary:
The teaching and assessment strategist provides strategic leadership for academic quality, assessment systems, assurance of learning, and curriculum coherence across the college. This role leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of college-wide academic initiatives that strengthen assessment architecture, curriculum quality, instructional effectiveness, and continuous improvement across undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programming.
Working alongside academic leadership, faculty,
and institutional partners, the strategist advances sustainable,
evidence-informed approaches that support strategic priorities, accreditation
alignment, evolving academic standards, and student success. This position
leads complex academic change initiatives and develops integrated frameworks,
implementation strategies, and quality assurance processes that strengthen
academic consistency, organizational readiness, and long-term program
effectiveness across the college.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and continuously improves strategic assessment, academic quality, and assurance-of-learning frameworks across undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs
- Leads complex curriculum renewal, assessment modernization, and academic innovation initiatives, and strengthens program-level coherence, in collaboration with faculty, departments, academic leaders, and institutional partners
- Aligns curriculum, competencies, accreditation expectations, college and university strategy, and institutional priorities to lead this work
- Advances work through evidence informed decision‑making, incorporating both established evidence‑based teaching practices and the creation of college‑specific, valid, reliable, and meaningful measures of student learning and program effectiveness
- Leads planning and implementation associated with major academic and curricular initiatives
- Leads faculty-wide capacity-building initiatives that support adoption of evolving academic quality, assessment, and curriculum practices across the college
- Leads change management associated with new academic and curricular initiatives using structured change management approaches, including identifies structural and cultural barriers to change and develops strategies to address them
- Identifies and addresses emerging academic risks and operational pressures related to teaching, assessment, academic integrity, and evolving teaching delivery models
- Provides strategic guidance to senior leadership related to academic quality, curriculum effectiveness, assurance of learning, assessment integrity, and emerging academic pressures impacting program delivery
- Supports instructors in addressing academic misconduct and identifying opportunities for improvement, in collaboration with internal stakeholders within the college
- Supports the implementation of academic policy, curriculum governance processes, and institution-level academic initiatives within the college
- Advances integration of accessibility, equity, and inclusive academic practices within curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance initiatives
- Contributes to institutional initiatives related to curriculum renewal, teaching innovation, and academic integrity, and participates on committees and working groups
- Represents the college in institutional teaching, learning, curriculum, and academic quality initiatives to support strategic alignment and implementation of university priorities
- Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment
- Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement
- Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree related to teaching and learning; a master’s degree is preferred
- Minimum of five years of experience in teaching and learning, preferably within a post-secondary environment
- Experience addressing structural and cultural barriers, such as workload pressures, competing priorities, and established norms
- Experience leading institution-level or college-wide academic initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and organizational change
- Expertise in academic quality assurance, curriculum alignment, assessment systems, and evidence-informed teaching and learning practices
- Understanding of continuous improvement processes, curriculum governance, assurance of learning, and accreditation within a post-secondary environment
- Demonstrated ability in leading complex, multi-level change initiatives within academic settings
- Applied knowledge of change management approaches, such as phased implementation, pilot initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and data-informed adoption
- Familiarity with competency-based education and program-level curriculum design
- Understanding of the implications of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and assessment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate academic strategy into faculty-facing practice
- Strong capacity to influence, coach, and build credibility with faculty
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, educational technologies, learning management systems, and data analysis tools.

Salary: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $87,266.00 - 145,353.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
