The Specimen Processor is responsible for receiving, labeling, and preparing laboratory specimens for testing while maintaining accurate records in the laboratory information system. They must ensure proper specimen preservation and adhere to all safety and hospital policies during the processing workflow.
Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of relevant work experience. Familiarity with medical terminology and computer literacy are preferred attributes for this role.

Receives and unpacks specimens checking labeling for accuracy. Preparing them for lab testing, including centrifugation, separation, and labeling of aliquot tubes. Ensures that specimens are preserved properly before being stored for analysis, pickup, or mailing. Delivers prepared specimens to appropriate testing locations. Performs data entry in laboratory information system.
