Responsibilities

Translate engineering designs into complex mechanical assemblies, including structural components, plumbing systems, and electrical integrations. Perform functional testing and troubleshooting to ensure all systems meet performance requirements before release.

Requires over 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly within industrial, aerospace, or custom fabrication environments. Must be proficient in reading engineering drawings and using precision measurement tools.

Full job description

Senior Mechanical Assembler
WET (Design) – Burbank, CA

At WET, we don’t just build systems—we engineer and manufacture complex, performance-driven environments that operate on a global stage. Our fountains and features, including the Fountains of Bellagio and the Dubai Fountain, integrate mechanical systems, controls, hydraulics, and show technology to deliver precision, reliability, and spectacle at scale.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Assembler who brings deep technical experience, strong mechanical intuition, and pride in craftsmanship. This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for building complex assemblies that must perform flawlessly in the field—often under demanding, real-world conditions.

Where You Fit In

As a Senior Mechanical Assembler, you will be at the center of building WET’s core systems—translating engineering designs into fully realized mechanical assemblies. You will work across mechanical structures, plumbing systems, and electrical integrations, ensuring each build meets exacting standards for fit, function, and durability.

This role is ideal for someone who has seen a wide range of assemblies, understands how systems come together holistically, and can independently drive work forward while supporting and elevating those around them.

What You’ll Do

  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation

  • Assemble integrated mechanical systems including structural components, pipe assemblies, valves, manifolds, and electromechanical elements

  • Build and route wire harnesses and cable assemblies, ensuring proper termination, labeling, and protection

  • Perform plumbing and pipe fitting (threaded, compression, and bonded connections), ensuring leak-free and field-ready systems

  • Install and align pumps, motors, actuators, sensors, and lighting components to precise tolerances

  • Use precision tools including torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, and alignment tools to verify assembly accuracy

  • Chase, repair, and maintain threads using taps, dies, and thread restoration techniques

  • Perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and rework to ensure assemblies meet performance requirements prior to release

  • Identify build issues, tolerance stack-ups, and design gaps; provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing teams

  • Support continuous improvement efforts, helping refine build processes, tooling, and assembly standards

  • Maintain a disciplined, clean, and safe work environment aligned with 5S and shop best practices

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, or custom fabrication environments

  • Strong experience with mechanical systems, plumbing/pipe fitting, and wire harness assembly

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation

  • High level of proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment

  • Solid understanding of tolerances, alignment, sealing methods, and system integration

  • Experience assembling complex, multi-disciplinary systems (mechanical + electrical + fluid systems)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues during build

  • Self-directed, reliable, and able to take ownership of critical assemblies from start to finish

  • Effective communicator who can work cross-functionally with engineering, fabrication, and production teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in low-volume, high-complexity builds or custom engineered products

  • Background in themed entertainment, aerospace, automotive prototypes, or similar industries

  • Familiarity with hydraulic or fluid systems, pumps, and control assemblies

  • Experience supporting installation or field commissioning efforts

Why WET

At WET, your work is not hidden inside a product—it becomes part of a living system experienced by millions. The assemblies you build must not only meet spec, but perform reliably in highly visible, high-expectation environments.

This is a role for someone who takes pride in precision, ownership, and execution—someone who understands that the quality of their work directly impacts the performance of world-class installations.

If you’re a highly skilled assembler looking to apply your craft to something truly unique and technically demanding, WET offers the opportunity to build at a level few environments can match.

If you want, I can also calibrate this for pay transparency, union/non-union alignment, or tweak language to better target aerospace vs entertainment talent pools.
